I don't know if it's the highest, but the Ekman-Larsson deal last summer was a lot of money too.

How could a deal get done
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>shaf_daddy</b></div><div>Obviously not a Niemela, but probably a B prospect and maybe a lower level roster player?
I think if NJ and TOR do a deal regarding that pick, Nylander is likely included, but I would think it's all a part of a much bigger deal with multiple pieces on both sides moving (no goalies).</div></div>
That’s what I was thinking. The player that could be had with 2nd overall is likely to be a better player, but it’s never a guarantee so the difference I don’t believe is as big as some might think. I could see something where it’s like Nylander going to NJ with stuff and then maybe the pick plus Sharangovich? I think Toronto would be very interested in him. But idk what Toronto would need to add (probably at this point their later 1st and some more on top)

Is this too absurd of an idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>shaf_daddy</b></div><div>This is going to be one hell of a team to watch in the offseason and no matter what they do, what happens behind the bench is going to be just as interesting, because I could totally see Lou doing something moronic like bringing Babs in.</div></div>
Babcock and Tortorella are my nightmare scenarios. I'm pulling for Paul Maurice or Bruce Boudreau (if he shakes free out of VAN). I'd like Lambert to be named HC for continuity but for Lou to say the team needed a "new voice" hiring the 20 year Trotz disciple seems counterintuitive

This is what I would do
I'd like to see LA add a LHD to play in their top 4. Once again, Chychrun would make a ton of sense. It's a need for the Kings and they have the capital that would entice Arizona.
Also wouldn't mind seeing the Kings dip their toe into the UFA forward market. Find a top 6 winger

Right? Willy + B prospect should be enough considering the extra year on the contract if JT isn't going to re-sign there

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>shaf_daddy</b></div><div>I think Kase will get offer-sheeted for that amount you have him at, and the Leafs will take the 3rd round pick.
I do love that you have Joey Anderson in the lineup, because I definitely think he's getting a long look next year. Same with Steeves. Engvall money looks good to me. You kept Kerfoot which I like because he is important to this team. I think Muzzin is sticking around as well. I think a long offseason (although maybe I'm naive) will help him.</div></div>
I just see a lot of Nylander/Muzzin trades (and dont get me wrong i think i have posted 1 or 2 Muzzin deals on here) and i just don't think its gonna happen. Nylanders having a career year and Muzz has a full NTC
Agree with you on Steeves/Anderson, I think they are ready for 4th line roles next year
A lot of people underestimate Kerf, he has had a really good year for us
With Kase thats a possibility but i see him taking a cut maybe because of how injury-prone the guy is

Playoff lineup lines and pairs
I think D pairs should be:
Rielly-Bush
Muzzin-Brodie
Gio-Lily
Also keep Nylander on the 3rd line and move Kerfoot up to the 2nd. That may leave Kase falling to the 4th line, but they can be used as a secondary scoring line.

how could this work in our advantage
A team like Arizona could trade for Weber than pay him $3M next year and use his $7.8M cap hit to reach the cap floor.
That way the owner could use the $4.8M is savings to pay their bills so they don't get evicted next year.
It gets even better after that, the next 2 year Weber will make only $1M (yes 1 million) and his cap will still be $7.8M.
So the owner can use Weber's cap hit to reach the cap floor and put $6.7M towards their bills or he could put it in his pocket.
So no Weber would not help Toronto.
The question is how much would the owners of Arizona give up to be able to put $17.4 million dollars in their pockets over the span of 3 years?

This guy traded our 1st rounder.

Did he say he wanted someone with term OR that essentially term wouldn't kill the trade?

This ^^^ 1,000 times over.
The only thing that really burned me about last night was listening to Babcock in his post game meeting with the press. Namely..
*His willingness to subtly throw several players under the bus i.e. Andersen, Dermot etc
*His lack of willingness to own any responsibility for the outcome of the serie
*Running away from the press with his tail between his legs after being asked one question about his decision making..
Hmm. Tough conversations coming for Mike, methinks.

Marner would sign that deal, but you don’t want him too. That deal walks him right to ufa without buying out any ufa years. Brutal deal for the leafs</div></div>
You do realize Edmonton's 1st rd pick is for 2020 and not 2019.

TDL 18 - One trade solves it all
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>First of all, why? Nylander is a top line player. I know he's had his struggles so far this season but give him time, he's a deadly player. He could very possibly become the best player on Carolina, he was right there with Aho, Marner etc before he held out. Everyone has forgotten that, or they ignore it to justify terrible trades.
Pesce is the most overrated player in the league right now. He's a 20 point defensive defenceman, which is a great thing but its not worth a top line offensive forward. Even if you want to use the arguement that Nylander is 5th or 6th on TO's depth chart, that doesn't lower his value, it just shows how sick the Leafs offensive depth is.
Ferland is a fine player but he's a product of who he plays with, on his own he's a bottom 6 player who is physical and can chip in with some offense from time to time.
I think Ferland would be a good pick up but I wouldn't pay more than a 3rd for him. He's a rental, apparently he wants a Tom Wilson contract. No thanks.</div></div>
The idea of this trade is a playoff push and nothing else. I remember who Nylander is better than most. But no Nylander in the history of his playing has been snake bit this bad. At some point you need to focus on next year and the year after that. Will Nylander help the leafs win a cup? I dont know. I remember him being almost not noticeable the last two series against Boston. What would not go unnoticed would be a shutdown guy to play with Gardiner and a tough guy that can give Toronto space and an edge in a series against Boston. It is also REALLY hard to ignore that Sparks and Hutchinson just arent good enough.
