This is probably the best and most level-headed rangers armchair gm I've seen. Only real question is why are we bringing back Marc Staal instead of a different/slightly cheaper 6D. You aren't as close to the cap as you think you are because it is going up 1mm so it will actually be 83.5mm. Subtract Staal's 1.225mm give Mikkola 2.2mm.

Fast would be nice to reunite with….but only if the intention is a bottom 6 role. He showed the 1st time here that he can move up in a pinch to play in the top 6….but over time he gets exposed because he is not a top 6 player.</div></div>
Laf should get a deal close to Kakko's and if Miller wants anything above 3.5 they should trade him

I didn't really think through the lines when I did it, but move Kakko up and play fast with Laf and Chytil, or change the lines up more.

Just an FYI, in the Gost case, you can physically type in the 50% amount, although you are still well over the cap.</div></div>
Thanks, didn't know that. Actually retaining at 50% would keep it under the cap because cap space is accrued over the course of the season so teams have more cap room at the deadline than it shows. The Rangers should have about 5.37mm in cap space at the deadline so this team is actually under the cap.

Let TBL, CAR, VGN, COL, etc burn through their pick/prospect pools. This is not the year for NYR to do that.</div></div>
I don't disagree with you, this was more if we were going to be a contender this year. I think we should only make trades if we really aren't giving up much.

That is nearly how much he made with CBJ, and I’m telling you, don’t pay him that again. A rebound year in an offense-heavy/ defense-light FLA shouldn’t be enough to give him that much in a flat-cap world.</div></div>
Yeah, I was debating how much money to give him. I am overpaying for centers in this very clearly. I am personally pretty high on Wennberg but your point makes sense. Also with Kreider he is still a decent hockey player I just think we really need to get rid of his cap hit. And I am willing to pay someone to take that, just hope we can find somewhere he is willing to waive his nmc.
