Also,
Buffalo isn't going to get 4 1st rounders. The ask is far too high for a guy who probably won't play most of the season.

Krebs, Patrick, Strome, 1st, 2- 2nd rounders isn't enough? For a guy who won't play over half the season? Man..... that's steep
Krebs - 17th overall
Patrick - 2nd overall
Stome - 3rd overall
1st round pick 2022
2nd round pick 2022
2nd round pick 2022 ALL FOR A GUY THAT HAS NO GUARANTEE TO PLAY THIS SEASON.... YES.... You're right that's not enough!

I agree. Toews needs to have a winger that is more defensive minded similar to Hossa.
Chicago isn’t there, yet. Once they address forward depth, I’d be willing to put them past playoff bubble to a contender bubble team.

The hawks are going to be good whether we like it or not
Hawks fan here. They are still too weak. I can be ok with the defense actually, but they are too weak in their bottom 6. Connelly needs to be on taxi squad all season and it would save a fair amount. Outside of that, they needs to make some splashes in FA to address depth. Which they can do, so it could be a very good day. But they certainly need to trade the LTIR space (Shaw) for a draft pick IMO. Or maybe trade him for a depth forward.
Assuming Stan can make splashes today, then I'm on board with this fast track rebuild. But if he doesn't, it was a GIANT waste to trade for Jones right now. This roster is barely ready for playoffs.

Should raise Eichel price on VGK for what they did to MAF
Chicago has a good asset in Fluery. They have all the power here. Why would they give him up for nothing or pay to give him up. I'm sick of seeing these Fluery to Pitt and Chicago has to pay trades. It makes no sense at all why people are thinking this way.

Why would Chicago want DeSmith and still retain salary? there's nothing in that trade for them. Desmith isn't better than what they have now.

I agree with adding more to the Detroit trade. But this is a pretty solid team though. If this team happens, which it could, I would put them as my cup favorite this year.

There’s a reason why you can go after Jones now, you can probably drop the aav anywhere from 500k to 1 mil/year by getting the chance to get that extra year of him.

2021 Hawks
I’ll bet jones doesn’t go anywhere this summer.
If it happens, it’s going to be mid season when a team is short a dman and will pay a higher price.
Right now several teams don’t “need” jones.
Philly is probably the closest.
Vancouver, stl, Pittsburgh, all would like to have Jones, but they don’t need him.
I’d like to see a Mallkin-Jones trade honestly come around. It’s time for both teams to move on from each player.
Bottom line Chicago doesn’t “need” a jones right now.
Free agency this summer is going to be crazy along with trades and expansion draft.
Chicago is getting close.
I think if they do trade for Jones, then they need to make sure they get some depth wingers and another center.
I’m still fine with the goaltending situation. Lankinen did great with a poor defense strategy in front of him.
Imagine if he had Jones? Who knows….

I think Edmonton is giving up too much for Keith, but I like where you’re going with it.
I will say you’re still not addressing what Chicago needs to be an actual contender. They need big forward Depth.
I’m not sure the farm system is ready to offer that, yet.
Chicago’s 3rd and 4th lines are their 2nd biggest issue next to defense.
Take the same approach as Tampa and look for grinder guys like Coleman and maroon did for Tampa.
I’m not saying get those guys, but there out there.
Also maybe look for a face off specialist who can go out and win the important draws similar to what phillip is going for MTL.
if they can address those issues, I’m honestly fine with the goaltending tandem.

Yes! Finally a post I can go along with. This is how they should be thinking in a rebuild. I'm sick of seeing all the ridiculous Eichel trade talk going to Chicago. It makes no sense for a team in "rebuild".

Whatever happened to Drew Commesso? He's a very decent prospect and no one is talking about that? Future Crow?
Jesper Wallstedt looks like one heck of a good prospect, but lets be real, Detroit will 100% grab him at 6 I bet. Or I could see them trading down a couple of spots and then get him. Although if he's available I bet SJ could grab him too. I'll be shocked if he's available at 11 or even 9. Chicago will have to trade to 3 or 4 to get him and that's not happening.
They will end up staying at 11 and probably grab the kid from the Steel.

While the trades are fair, I don't see the Hawks willing to part with Nylander for that amount. Also, no off-season signings from free agent pool? I understand letting the kids play, but they need to add some form of toughness.

I actually like the Murphy trade from both sides. While I'm sure they wouldn't give up their 1st (would be nice), this allows for two things to happen. Philly gets help on D which they need, but also by moving on from Murphy (who has been great) it will allow younger guys the chance to play.
Let's look at Montreal as a case study and see how they went young and it seems to be paying off for them.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stan_Bowman</b></div><div>I'm always happy to get positive feedback.</div></div>
Being a hawks fan, if I’m the flyers, you still need to give Patrick more time. His upside could still be very high, it’s too early to give up. Plus to it’s too early to give up for Murphy and strome.
That still doesn’t make them a contender plus you give up a former #2 and a first rounder for it.
Chicago would need to give up more in my opinion.
Oh and I would suggest Stan make that trade for next years 1st rounder.
Like I said it still doesn’t push philly over the hump so that could be a potential good pick. I’d rather have 2 chances next season vs this season.
