Probably, but what happens if no one wants to pay the price and they lose Karlsson for nothing. I think they will be happy long term with a return like this plus a pick.

This once great game is being ruined by greed.</div></div>
Yup. Leafs have to take advantage of cap space while they can.
Also, not a Leafs fan.

Need to add more to get Burakovsky and Grubauer, maybe add Fox or Phillips?
Love the idea of going after him! The Caps are going to be in cap trouble and probably can't afford him and Grubauer.
Only thing I don't like is signing both Neal and JVR. You only really need one. Save some cap that way.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jdfitz77</b></div><div>Dude...
No way Jose
Kinkaid- we can sign a backup quality goalie for free
Coleman- we have guys coming up who can fill a 3rd line role, he has no value, none
The 1st is ok, but Zacha just hasn’t done much at all with u guys (2yrs, 16 total goals) to think that he can be the main piece who gets O’Reilly
U gotta remember...
you guys won’t be the only team calling on O’Reilly
I don’t even think we will trade him
But if we did...
there’s no way that offer is the best we’d get
Probably not even close</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wagsnags</b></div><div>Let's break this trade down:
1. NJ 2019 1st Round pick will probably be in the 20th - 25th pick.... compare that to the Buffalo 2019 3rd round pick which will be in the 67th to 72nd advantage Buffalo though not as big of an advantage when your ears hear a 1st vs 3rd Round pick;
2. Kinkaid is in the last year of his contract at $1,250,000..... the Sabres can sign a FA goalie in which is does not cost them anything in a trade or assets..... Kinkaid has a zero maybe even negative value in the trade from a Sabres viewpoint;
3. ROR compared to Zacha..... ROR is of greater value today and probably for the next 2-3 years at which point Zacha should be of greater value..... advantage NJ for this part of the deal;
In summary the deal does not work for the Sabres as it is currently constructed.....
How do we make it work you say..... well the lets go this route:
1. Remove Kinkaid from the deal and add Miles Wood or Jesper Bratt;
2. Change the Buffalo pick to the 4th Round 2019;
I have previous stated a negative opinion on Miles Wood but I have since realized that I was completely wrong.</div></div>
I dont get why everyone thinks O'Reilly is Crosby 2.0...
ROR is a good two way player who wins faceoffs and can get 60 points.
Do I think they can get more? Yes. Do I think they are gonna get way more? No.
I would think adding Wood instead of Coleman would be fair.
Kinkaid is good, ya you can sign a back up, but your spending more than Kinkaid's contract. This if he plays well, you keep him, if not, you go for one of the many quality FA goalies next year.

Funny you say that. I had him in the trade when I first did it, but didn't know what Sabres fans would think.

I like the ideas.
I would rather go after Skinner or Lindholm rather than Staal, the Flames have good C's and young prospects that can be given a shot.
I think add a pick with Stone to get Brown, not that the Leafs will move him into their top 6, just to sweeten the deal.
Not huge on straight swap for Simmonds, Brodie has an extra year and Simmonds is gone next year.
How much would it cost to buyout Staal would be my only question on that trade.

Lol, again not realistic. Just picked MTL and a pick. Changed it to a 7th. I'm sure someone could use him. He's still got life left.

Agreed. Unless some how, the Coyotes convince him that they will become a contender. Even then, probably not.

I would do the first 2, not keen on the second 2.
Dzingel is good, but we don't need a 3rd line winger.
You could get more for Mike Smith.

I don't know what a detroit deal would look like, but it would have to include AA, Hronek, the 6th OA, and Something else? maybe another 1st top 5 protected? Also Matt Peumpel because it would make me laugh</div></div>
I was thinking Nyquist agrees to an extension as part of the trade.
By top 4 I meant he can play in the top 4 eventually. Needs to be given the chance.

A top 6 winger, a top 4 defensive prospect and 6th overall is no interest? (Ericsson is just a 1 year piece so they can fill out their defense).
Maybe add Athanasiou or Hicketts?

That trade with the Leafs won't happen. I think the only way they trade Nylander is for a top 4 RHD. But thinking Hamilton for Nylander is a huge mistake for the Flames.
Also, Flames haven't given Bennett a real chance to succeed. I hope they play him in the top 6 consistently this year before moving him.
Also think you could get a better deal for Brodie.
