<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sooonk</b></div><div>I see a move for Johnny as an all in move for the Flyers to go for the cup over the next 2 years. I think it’s just an off year for Johnny. He’s been really good for the back half of the year and will add more scoring to the lineup. These top 2 lines in Philly would be filthy.</div></div>
I think it can be debatable for whether Johnny is the right piece for the Flyers. Our definite, solid top-six forwards right now are Giroux, Couturier, Voracek, Konecny, Hayes, and maybe van Riemsdyk. I personally don't want to trade van Riemsdyk or Hagg, but since they are traded here, let's just say they do get traded. That leaves us with five top-six forwards, which means we have an open spot on our second line, preferably a left winger. Gaudreau would be a nice addition, but I don't want to kill the development of some our younger guys either. I'm confident that Lindblom will return by next season and he's been awesome in our top-six, both offensively and defensively. He was leading the team in goals before he diagnosed with cancer after all. If he isn't back, then Laughton can fill that role. I understand the "win-now" mentality, but if things are clicking for us right now, then I won't want a change-up. I'd like to see how things play out next year before we go after Gaudreau. I don't want to pay that high of a price if it won't have as much of an impact.

Are you insane? You gotta get your head checked bud. Might have early onset Corona. This trade is not even near worth value for Flames to deal Gaudreau. Let alone a 1st and Frost being an overpayment hahahaha. Insane man, go give your head a shake.

Calgary will probably trade Gaudreau for another forward. Only reason they will trade him would be to shake up the team, while still being competitive

Please no more Hathawaive on the 3rd line. I dont think NJ would take that trade. I also think that Brodie should be on the PP over Hamonic. Other than that, decent.

We Have Great D Prospects - So Let's Play Them!
I've been trying to think about how Kylington might fit into the lineup as well. I agree that there is immense value in getting some of these young guys experience. Andersson is already arguably ready for a Top 4 role, and his development would be immense to play in that position next season. Can Andersson play his offside? If so, he's highest on the "young gun depth chart" right now, so pairing with Hamonic would make sense.
Kulak is the bonafide #3 guy on the left side...so how does that all work?
I agree that CGY needs to leave some room (read: make some room by moving Brodie) to give Andersson, Valimaki, and Kylington a chance to compete for roster spots.
Also love that Galchenyuk trade. MTL fans will probably get upset by it, but it's spot on with market value. I don't see TOR making that trade, unfortunately. I love Brown and think he'd be a great long-term fit in CGY on the RW side. Stone + Foo might get the conversation further down the road, who knows.
Hayes would be a great addition. I like that Jankowski stays in the roster, though I'd be tempted to try him on the wing with Shore as the dedicated 4C.

I believe you are overvaluing Hayes. I would have him straight up for Fox, or the combo Bennett&Brouwer. What is he bringing that Bennett doesn't? They are pretty close already, and we believe Bennett still has huge potential if he ever gets it together. And frankly, why am I interested in trading Fox? Unless we get a dramatic over offer he's staying.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>cberg</b></div><div>Don't like any of the trades. Flames can buy-out Brouwer for significantly less, and Brodie should garner Hoffman+</div></div>
You'd pay Brouwer 1.5 for 4 years as opposed to 2 for 2 years. Getting a 2nd round pick and a top end penalty killer is worth that price. No one is giving us a Hoffman+ package for Brodie, I don't think you're even close, above may be an over payment, but you are over valuing Brodie I think.

Riley Nash is going to be signed for like 3,000,000 a year.
Hagg deserves a little more than 1,500,000 maybe 2,250,000
Also there is a good chance that Frost will be cracking the 3rd line center and Raffl would be the odd man out, with Simmonds moving to LW and Nash moving to RW

Personally i agree Philly needs to trade goalies, but i think it's going to be Elliot and Sandstorm going, with keeping Storlaz, Lyon and Hart for prospects and Neuvy as backup.
With trading Elliot we would get more than what we would get for Neuvy,
With trading Sandstorm we get rid of an okay goalie prospect, while we already have 3 more. Hart is possibly the future of the team, and Lyon and Strorlaz show that they're mid tier goalie prospects.</div></div>
Sandstrom is more than an okay prospect he's pretty darn good, just had some health problems last year. I'd trade Neuvirth and have Lyon back up Elliott. Stolarz needs to prove he can stay healthy again before we should consider trading Sandstrom.

Eberle for TJ straight up is a decent trade. You don't add our only NHL ready right handed shot prospect if you need to sweeten the pot. Lazar, Hathaway etc. at the most. And yes buy out Brower or retain 1.5M if you can trade him for a late round pick.

We don't really need another 1st at the expense of guys who are almost NHL ready like Dube and Fox. Flames need good young players now, not guys who might turn into NHL players 2-3 years from now. The window is opening right away.

you have 11 mill in cap space and dube in the press box. leave brouwers contract on so its not as expensive the next year and let dube play top line min in the ahl. brouwer can eat popcorn all year for all i care.
same with valamaki dont put these guys up stairs let them play. 1 year in the ahl wont kill them plus it leaves them protected from seattle...

Overhaul
Good ideas, but I think in every instance CGY could do a little better.
1) Hamilton would get you Nylander, a 4th, and a 1st!
2) Stone - could probably fetch a 2nd or 3rd
3) Skinner - don't mind the deal - as long as Skinner agreed to an extension before the deal was done. A 1 year rental is not enough. Car would also need to throw in a late pick.
4) Rights to Fox - should get a late 1st back.
5) While I personally wouldn't do the deal for Ryan - I would make Ottawa at least take Brouwer's contract back as well.

You really shouldn't comment if you don't know what you're talking about. I'm kind of embarrassed for you reading this drivel.
There are no cap dumps or AHLers in this proposal. That is a FAR better return than the one Toronto got when they traded Kessel to the Penguins in the first place.

Trying a Kessel Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Michael</b></div><div>I think that if Kessel is actually on the trade block, it's going to take a lot to outbid other teams. But he would fit in perfectly on the top line.</div></div>
The last Kessel trade (to PIT from TOR):
Kessel ($1.2M retained)
for
Kapanen (22nd overall) + 2016 1st (30th overall) + 2016 3rd (72nd overall)
The rest of the deal was pretty irrelevant. And that was when Kessel was 27 years old. He's turning 31 in October 2018, 4 years remaining on a decent contract.
Brodie is easily worth a middle 1st round pick straight up, or a late 1st + a middle-late 2nd rounder. Fox is worth a late 1st or early 2nd. So just Brodie + Fox should be a serious conversation with PIT, especially if PIT/Kessel are the ones initiating the process. Whether that package wins out in the bidding or not is another question entirely. CGY probably shouldn't do: Brodie + Bennett + Fox.....but might if they feel Kessel is the perfect fit.
