TOFFOLI TRADED
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CorrosionRF</b></div><div>Conny's first trade was a fleece. Not for us but a fleece none the less</div></div>
No RS
He traded for a 35-45 point player
Gave up a 10 year vet with only 2 seasons with 50+ points
Toffoli once every 5 years peaks then goes back to normal
The common link is playing for Sutter
The Russians still a kid by comparison and growing.
He could spend the next 3 seasons with over 50 points given CGY depth(assuming they keep Lindholm the rest is replacable)

TOFFOLI TRADED
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pensfan303</b></div><div>Wow, that seems low for Toffoli haha</div></div>
Toffoli + Sutter = Career Year
Toffoli - Sutter = 40-49 point player only finishing over 50 points twice in 10 years over 3 teams
I still love him either way
But if im giving up a 35-45 point roster player to get him
Im not giving up much in the way of picks
Its futures quality, roster quality or a mix of both
CGY chose option C
I said this before CGY fans got worked up
Firing Sutter to early got everyone thinking about Toffoli without Sutter
You trade Toffoli first and most people arent scrambling to find ways in which Sutter had a positive impact.
They dont see that unless they spent the last few months focused on it
Waiting to Trade Tofolli did more damage then good

TOFFOLI TRADED
I actually don't mind this for either team. Sharangovich is a solid middle 6 forward and is 25 years old. Toffoli is expiring contract.
It's a little light for Calgary and they could have gotten more at the deadline but they must really like Sharangovich, plus Tofolli could get hurt during the year and then his value is zero.
New Jersey gets good add to their team.

Winnipeg could really be better
I'd be open to something like Lindholm and Vladar for Wheeler(with retention) and Sheifele. It definitely gives the Flames options. They can cash in on some players now, and trade Wheeler at the deadline. If Sheifele has chemistry with Huberdeau, then perhaps they could even extend him. That's a pretty decent retool for CGY, assuming they can flip some other assets like Toffoli and Hanifin at the draft for futures.

I just want a right handed center, my ideal target is Danielson; he's from Alberta and he does everything right, he has decent size, plus he was captain over at Brandon, he reminds me of Lindholm with his style of play

Chicago, Montreal and Calgary get fleeced here IMO.
Granlund is hard to move. Why would Montreal literally throw away a 3rd line center (yes he's overpaid, but still not a throw away)
CGY would want your 2023 1st and a much better prospect than that-which I dont think Pittsburgh has..

I love Toffoli but no point in giving assets for him as we're in a rebuild. And that flames 1st rounder could end up being a high pick looking at the direction the team is going

I disagree. A guy who will be getting 9-10 mil until he's 35 who just put up his first PPG and 40 goal season and who you need to shelter in the playoffs due to his defensive incompetence is not worth as much as you want to believe. Yes, we all know how pretty he looks with the puck on his stick. Fewer of us seem to recognize how ugly he looks without it. Also, Hanifin is a legit top pairing defenseman.
There is a clear disconnect in our evaluation of players so lets just agree to disagree instead of kicking off another circular argument where you end up claiming I'm some ignorant boomer.

Agreed. I do think my trade proposal is close and makes sense for both teams given their timelines; what would need to be added around the fringes is up for debate.

The Time To Win Now
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Newtown</b></div><div>You think a guy who has 1 year left and will not resign is worth more than a 24 year-old RHD making 1.4 million that is already a top 4 defender? Of course they could get some picks…a first and maybe a 3rd but how is that going to help a team that needs NHL players right now?</div></div>
They won’t need NHL players right now if the are forced into a rebuild. If u are adding a pick on the flames side you are saying that Liljegren is currently better than Hanifin, will Liljegren be better than Hanifin someday? Maybe but not right now. Let’s say Calgary loses Hanifin but doesn’t have to go into a rebuild, they should just trade for picks because they would still have more than enough guys pushing for top 4 spots. Would Liljegren be nice to have? Sure but they aren’t paying for him.

Lindholm starts with a 1st and Poitras. Not a pile of mid to bottom roster pieces.
If Calgary moves him 20 teams will be in on it. You won’t get him with pile of mediocrity

DOWN TO THE STUDS
<a href="/users/jcambers" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@jcambers</a>, you said down to the studs but three quarters of the trades are bringing in young(ish) but more or less established talent instead of picks and prospects. The worst is the PHI proposal because you're trading for a 25 yo with 2-years left and giving a team that is actually trying to bring everything down to the studs (like Chicago) a 26 yo rental D. The close second would be the Dubois trade since it is pretty safe to assume that he has no interest in signing with Calgary.
What you proposed here is a decent idea of a retool in terms of personnel (other than Dubois), maybe give it another shot but while taking into consideration the contract situation of players and the teams' situation.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jacketsman61</b></div><div>Typical Canadian hockey fans. They always are unrealistic when it comes to trade values of their players.</div></div>
Most diehard fans are delusional, and that Canadian teams typically have more diehard NHL hockey fans. Also, most fans are also not GM-material and a lot lack the ability to make comparisons between past trades and mock trades.

How to say this nicely…YOU ARE NOT GETTING THE 3OA PICK FOR LINDHOLM. Not happening. Calgary has no leverage in this situation. Any pick in the Top 5 is not going to be traded for Lindholm. Plus, any trade that requires a sign and trade would have to take play on July 1 bc that is the first time Lindholm can sign the extension. That is after the draft. So sign and trade is going to involve picks in 2024 and beyond. Geez this isn’t hard to understand.

Hilarious. The price of Lindholm to Columbus just keeps going up. It started as Lindholm+ for 3 OA, then it was Lindholm for 3 OA, then Lindholm for 3 OA+, and now we're at Lindholm for 3 OA++. All this despite it having been a joke right from the start that Columbus would even consider anything in this line of negotiation.
