Don’t thiink the Canes would deal Necas for Laine personally. Laine is the better goal scorer, but Necas the much more rounded player who doesn’t cost $8M+…yet.

How I Think The Canes Will Play the Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>seanrushton</b></div><div>The top 3 in xGA/60 and 97th defensive percentile would like to have a word... he's a pure defensive defensemen but he's one of the best in the business at it and $2-3m is a fair price tag for that</div></div>
And how many goals has that line scored?
The Canes bottom 6 lack of scorong, to me, has been a glaring issue this year. All that cycling eventually
Has to end with pucks in the net. With Staal’s line, that’s not happening. Martinook is a black hole offensively and he takes penalties at a high rate. The sooner he and his $1.8M are off the team, the better.

It was a suggestion to check in. If Hoffman has a stat line that I suggested, to dump Fast and add a 2nd line scorer for a run, it’s more than fair. Thrun got a 3rd and you could argue if Hoffman has 20g he could return more then a third in some scenarios.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jslongo</b></div><div>idk about 'haul', but hes good for picks and prospects, nothing amazing though..</div></div>
He’ll likely return CGY a haul vs what the Canes would actually be willing to pay. And I bet their offer last deadline for him was juicy, as they would have gotten him at under $5M for 2 playoff runs. As a rental, I don’t see the Canes being in the running for him.

Flames Sell Canes Buy
If CGY is retaining that much, they get a lot more than this. I don’t see the Canes being willing to pay that. They’d also not likely be interested in extending Lindholm at $8M+, so they’d likely view him as a strictly a rental.

Lindholm will pull in a haul, but not a roster player the caliber of Necas.

Big trade with the Canes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>If the Canes were in a rebuild stage, sure. But since they are not in a rebuilding stage, but are actively competing for a cup, Canes pass. Waddell has already confirmed that Pesce isn’t being moved. No reason to downgrade the roster and lessen their cup chances for 3 mid/late 1sts that won’t even have a chance to break into the roster for about 3 or so years after they are drafted.</div></div>
If you can get 3 1st round picks for a UFA to be an 2 bottom 6 players, you do it, immediately, regardless of contender status.
Pesce isn’t as integral to team success as some Canes’ fan think. His trade value is vastly overstated on this site.

I don’t think the Canes would think twice about moving Pesce, with the caveat that the deal made them better. They have 5 top 4D at the moment.
That’s a pretty big caveat though. It’s going to be tough for any team to offer up a player or package that makes the Canes better than they are with Pesce on roster.
For argument’s sake, if a team offered a decent enough forward and the Canes felt they could add another depth D for insurance, I think Pesce’s bags would be packed.

ullmark
The Canes have tried to sign/acquire Kulak in the past. I actually think he’d be a good fit in Raleigh. However, in no way is he worth a 1 for 1 swap for Pesce. EDM would have to add a substantial +.
Discussion of Pesce to EDM is moot anyway. No chance he’d waive to go there.

They’re not going to call up a player from a European league, get real.
Also, if you think DeAngelo is bad defensively, Honka would be worse.
They need depth, which is why I don’t think they deal DeAngelo at all. 7 NHL D without an AHL affiliate isn’t a bad thing.

Actually, they’re not. They have $2.8M in space currently,
Now, your point still stands. It makes no sense for them to trade a useful RD making league mininum for an undersized LD making $2M.
