i mean you have to go all in before mcdavid wants out... its better than 4.5 M for koskinen
and by the end when campbell falls apart, mcdavid will likely have asked out and theyll be rebuilding

yeah i certainly would not have gotten the value of bjornfot right, and i do still see chychrun as a fit, but youre right the values are probably off in the rest...

i'm not saying he will be worth it even, but let's be real, someone will do it, and he would be stupid not to take it...
that's the thing about economics, is it's not about what he's worth, it's about what someone is foolish enough to pay for him

I think 6 years is fine. DAL can re-sign him further in 2028 then if he's still any good. He'd be 29 then so it might be a better deal for us to sign him to an 8-year deal then.</div></div>
you're not wrong, but even at 29 i wouldn't want to give him 8 years... the ideal might be to keep him thru his prime, ufa at 31, and let him walk after hes peaked...
at 29 he won't settle for shorter term, but i wouldn't want a goalie past their mid 30's anymore, there's just too many of them who aren't aging well... the best case ends up looking like bishop who was effective until he went on ltir, but lots have gone worse (bobs, martin jones, quick, dobby, rinne, and soon carey price...
you're right there's less risk in 6 years, but then you might temp yourself into an extension at 29 that won't age well... that's the real danger, unless you're a GM who expects to be fired in less than 6 years anyway like half of them, then it doesn't matter anyway lol

fixing defence
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Horrible trades, all.
Iafallo for Dillon would be a terrible deal because Dillon is exactly the opposite of the type of defenseman we're looking for; Bjornfot filled that slot perfectly acceptable for a rookie last season and is only going to get better, so trading him for a fifth is insane. And trading Matt Roy for no reason is awful.
The idea that with all of the young forwards brimming with promise we have on the roster and under contract now, plus the 4 or 5 excellent prospects we have in the system developing, we'd have to go outside the organization for Matt Nieto is just absurd.
The less said about trading Quinton Byfield, the better.
I understand the attraction of making ACGMs for teams about which you know very little, but this is absolutely dreadful, revealing a complete lack of understanding of our team, its management and direction.</div></div>
i understand the attraction of emphatically expressing ones opinions behind the anonymity of the internet, but this is absolutely inconsiderate, revealing a complete lack of understanding of respect for others ideas and forums in which ideas are exchanged, bud

feels optimistic on marchment there... i think he sees Goodrow and Coleman as comparables... probably asking for 5-6 years at 4-5M$... i don't think he'll take a deal that guarantees less than $10M after the season he had, but you've got the cap space in the short run and it would be a nice fit

If Nill and Grier agreed upon a blockbuster
i like the idea - it's creative, but likely too creative for jim nill who tends to be one of the most boring gm's in the league...
the main downside tho is that if it keeps you from giving oettinger enough money for 8 years, he walks to ufa sooner, and i think they need to build around him as much as anyone else on the team
