tkachuk fallout
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Anaheim won't have trouble reaching the cap floor because the Boston guys are dying to send us Mike Reilly for a third and the St. Louis guys are dying to send us Marco Scandella for anything, but that trade stands on its own and I would accept that offer as the Anaheim GM.
As Colorado authority Richard88 has pointed out, Ethan Bear has some newly-acquired value because trading for him re-opens a team's buyout window. For example, Tampa Bay could pay their 2024 second for him and revisit that decision not to buy out Philippe Myers, thereby allowing them to keep their entire current roster without having to trade someone like Alex Killorn.</div></div>
thats an interesting twist... although tampa is maybe the only team who could benefit from that?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>That is not a good Tarasenko offer. Gonna need to try again.</div></div>
yeah i think if theyre going for tkachuk and Tarasenko is picky about waiving the NTC, there wont be many contenders in low tax states with cap space to go for him...
maybe they decide not to do it then, but lets not act like theyre going to get full value as if all 32 teams could be in a bidding war

Rectifying Poor Decisions by Grier and How SJ Could Have Easily Won Free Agency
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CheechYou</b></div><div>That's a valid point. But realistically, how much more would they command? Half a million to a million each? Another year on their deals each? That's still certainly very manageable if you ask me. I'd much rather slightly overpay for very good players at a higher cost (i.e. 4-5.5mil) than substantially overpay mediocre-at-best-to-straight-up-bad players at a lower cost (i.e. 2-3mil) which is what Grier did.</div></div>
and i agree on the lower guys, as a preds fan i was expecting to cut kunin... i didn't think he was worth the 2.3M QO let alone what Greer gave him

i'm sure either the extra 0.5M$ or an extra year would do it
the danger is that they turn into another one of the sharks big contracts later...
it's a big risk, and probably makes them worse in the future, but if you really want to contend this year then it could work

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>svensk_forskare</b></div><div>see the problem is, if dallas offered marchment that contract with low taxes and a team that made the playoffs, theres no way he would take the same deal with the sharks
you'd have to pay more, or give him more years, and it's already risky as is for a guy with 1 big season...
similar for nino - why pay cali taxes when tennessee is cheaper and preds are a wildcard contender still</div></div>
but i agree Greer has not been impressive at all and this team would be better if it could actually be assembled

Nashville Predators signed Nino Niederreiter (2 Years / $4,000,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>IconicHawk</b></div><div>Why does Polie not want to rebuild, their championship window has been shut for almost a half decade now</div></div>
a few possibilities... 1. he doesnt think he will be around to see the team win a cup in 10 years if they rebuild, 2. with the team having been sold recently, old ownership might have wanted to keep the sale price high with the team competing for playoff spots, and new ownership might want revenue to stay high rather than tanking, 3. with josi's nmc and contracts like duchene and johansen being hard to dump, that's 25M a year in cap they cant really move, so they wouldnt be bad enough to get a bedard-type lotto pick, and wouldn't be able to totally clear payroll long term with those contracts...
in the end though, they can probably generate more revenue being the last wild card every year rather than going thru an embarassing tank for 5 years and getting 2 cups, and revenue motivates ownership to mandate things on gm's

yeah... its a reclamation project, but nashville loves finnish goalies so maybe lanks can learn from saros

I'd put him in the conversation in the top 5 goalies in the NHL right now. Ingram looks like a very good cheap backup and they now have Yaroslav Askarov over in NA. That looks pretty legit to me
This is a dangerous team</div></div>
except lankinen was signed to be the backup... which is questionable after last year

disappointing week
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Isles5513</b></div><div>Neiderreiter would be a good fit if he’s playing with Granlund or Johansen. U don’t sign him to play bottom line minutes with Cody Glass imo.</div></div>
i didnt mean to order the lines necessarily.... trenin/sissons/jeannot is kinda the 4th line but also kinda an identity line so they get more minutes and often open periods
but at the same time, tolvanen and tomasino need to develop higher in the lineup too... i agree nino is more useful higher in the lineup, but like that would make too much sense for management to do
