Jesse Puljujarvi is the Perfect Trade for the Jets and vice versa
My concerns with Poolparty are that Elliotte Friedman has reported two things recently: Other teams feel that he struggles more when playing with McDavid or Draisaitl because he puts too much pressure on himself, and there's a sense that he wants to go to a quiet market with less pressure. So I'm not sure that Winnipeg as a market works for him, nor do I think putting him with Scheifele will get his groove back.

gear up for a playoff run
Ignoring the (off) value, Morrissey isn't waiving his full No-Move, and the Jets aren't trading their #1 defenceman away with 6 years left when they're trying to compete and also currently in a playoff spot. What logic is there in that trade?

Current Jets roster with new lines
Samberg had his best game yesterday imo. Also, he makes way more sense as a third pairing, PKing player than Heinola. Heinola is 4th on the PP depth chart with this team behind Morrissey, Pionk and Schmidt which limits his value at the NHL level. The Jets either need to trick someone into thinking Schmidt has value at his contract or move Heinola imo, **IF** they are win-now mode. I like Chevy but his big weakness is hanging onto players (Niku, Vesalainen) until they lose all trade value. This team desperately needs middle 6 depth and Heinola can bring that and more.

Doesn't sound like a temporary claim based off of what was said today. He was a PKer under Arniel in Washington.
I think Maenalanen gets send down with his waiver exemption.
Also I don't think CSW is making a return to start ;)

Tampa Bay Lightning signed Pierre-Cédric Labrie (1 Year / $1,270,800 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>budgeteam</b></div><div>LTIR increases the cap ceiling for the team by the amount they are over by when they place the player on LTIR.
Meaning, the Lightning want to get as close to 6.875M (Seabrook's cap hit) over the cap before they place him on LTIR.
If they do not get a full 6.875M over the cap, they effectively lose that space.
Sending down Myers and signing this contract were both paper transactions to get Tampa 6.875M over the cap on day one of the season. Once their roster is set, they will send down Labrie, and recall Myers. Once LTIR is set, their new cap ceiling remains in place even if the move non-LTIR players. That's why you sometimes see teams when setting their opening roster send players who made their team down and recall players who didn't. This is a more extreme version of that.
That is why Labrie was signed to such a specific AAV. The performance bonus is not counted toward his AAV for LTIR purposes, and he is probably not in the plans to play in the NHL. In the unlikely chance be hits the bonus, the 500k cap can be deferred to next season.
If someone wants to inflict maximum chaos on Tampa, they could claim Myers. It would throw off Tampa's LTIR ceiling structure. Additionally, it looks like Ian Cole may not play anytime soon, and possible may not play ever again if the grooming allegations are proven true. It seems like the Cole stuff happened after Myers was waived. Tampa likely expected that no one would claim Myers because of his inflated real money salary this season. Maybe the Cole stuff will change that if a team with cap space sees an opportunity to extort Tampa for a pick by claiming Myers.</div></div>
Just wanted to add one thing to this excellent summary: The performance bonuses are there to give Tampa a PB "cushion" for the year. That 500k PB becomes their season opening PB amount, meaning that if they recall a player on an ELC with PBs less than that amount, it doesn't count against the cap. Without that cushion, a team has to add a player's PB to their cap hit when recalling a player under LTIR.

It seems a bit much at the moment but honestly, hard not to just feel very happy for Sens fans.
Also, with Stutzle switching to C full time this year and with him completing changing his offseason routine to improve his fitness levels I could see him taking a big jump this year.

Yes, it's because 50 doesn't divide by 7 well. See Kyle Connor's contract too. The total cap hit shows up as $1 off, but the actual contract is $50 million

Chicago Blackhawks signed Kevin Korchinski (3 Years / $1,918,333 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jco5ta5</b></div><div>Can anyone enlighten me as to the advantage of signing him (and other players) now when they clearly have a plan to play juniors for 1-2 more years?</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bruins1054_gmb</b></div><div>The team signs him opposed to waiting two years and risk the player walking to UFA to sign with any team. The player receives his signing bonus money immediately, which allows him to begin a successful financial life early.</div></div>
Bruins1054 is correct, but just to add on a couple of other factors. This allows the team to give the player early looks if they want in the NHL (if they play less than 10 NHL games a year their contract is still eligible to slide), and also, you can give CHL players a Juniors salary (max is $10.5k/year I believe). When this contract is fully confirmed we will see if they gave this to him

I basically considered Schmidt and TJ a contract swap, Schmidt will help the Hawks reach the floor

This is why I understood why Florida made the trade, even it was a fairly one-sided deal for the Flames. This contract will hurt in 4-5 years

I don't think Colton & Foote will cost that much. Colton I can see getting an identical contract to Paul and if Foote does cost that much, they will probably move him because they have a few RHD prospects that will be NHL ready soon

Winnipeg Jets signed Pierre-Luc Dubois (1 Year / $6,000,000 AAV)
At this point I think the most likely outcome is that he stays the year and is traded in the summer as a RFA, like Chevy & the Jets did with Trouba. They kept Copp up until he was a UFA too.
