I’m just assuming Ottawa isn’t on it. If so then there’s no deal. I’m really looking for feedback value wise and I concede I did overpay here based on past deals. What would you give up for cat?

While taxes often play a role in where a player signs it is not the only factor to take into consideration. Players also decide based on ability to win, quality of life, marketing opportunities, and other things like that. Has Debrincat made any sort of statements that he’s looking to go to a low tax area? I don’t follow Ottawa closely.

Not saying he’s better, but this just doesn’t make sense for the Isles imo.</div></div>
He’s a lot younger than Nelson and we lock him up long for long term and finally give barzal the sniper he needs while still having solid center depth down the middle.

He is 25 year old sniper with two 40 goal seasons already and he hasn’t hit his prime. Such players aren’t on the market everyday and we’re gonna have to give up something of value especially since we don’t have the prospect pool to compete with other teams. The team gets a lot younger with this trade.

Yeah that makes sense I don’t really follow the blues so I appreciate the input

Wahlstrom and Barzal are out scoring teams 9-3 , barzals goal doesn’t happen without Wahlstrom. They rarely make bad defensive plays.</div></div>
By what metric is he the best defender on the team. He turns the puck over all the time. There’s a reason he plays 10 minutes a game and we can’t blame it on Trotz being stubborn anymore.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Db1899</b></div><div>Still a bad trade for the isles. A majority of Horvats value is going to be on the Canucks this season , he’s not shooting 21% for the rest of the season.
The isles aren’t 1 player away from contending and playoff teams do not have Josh Bailey on the top line. He’s a line killer
It’s also not Lou’s style to have anyone change positions mid season</div></div>
But they are a goal scorer away from being cup contenders. This team made it to the conference finals two years in a row without a bonafide scorer and played well in the second half last year. This team has a good defense, a vezina caliber goaltender, plenty of depth and physicality, and a bunch of playmakers. Nelson scored 37 goals last year I think he can be good on barzys wing and horvat wouldn’t have to carry the team and sustain a 21% shooting percentage. As for Bailey on the top line it’s because I like palmieris chemistry with pageau and parise and wahlstrom is too much of a defensive liability to play on a line with barzal leaving only Bailey. This team made it to the conference finals with Leo freakin komorov on the 1st line I think they can survive having Bailey on a line with barzal and Nelson.

Not gonna put horvat on the wing. Putting Nelson on a wing with barzal.

Not expecting him to carry the team. Nelson is his teams best scorer and we can move him to barzals wing without sacrificing depth down the middle.

It's obvious you didn't read my commentary.
In this post, Islanders are dumping Komarov and Hickey at the same price as when Florida dumped Stralman.
There's your answer.
Read my posts more closely before commenting :/</div></div>
Same price they dumped stralman? You are comparing apples to oranges my friend. You want us to give up our top d prospect and another 2nd rounder? In the stralman trade arizona got a second rounder three years from now. They won’t even see him until at least 6-7 years from now.

Nothing exorbitant about it.
Saying Stralman is not among those cap dumps on Arizona is a fallacy.
You should know better :/</div></div>
The 2nd for stralman is 2024 that’s 3 years away and whoever they make with that pick likely won’t have any impact until 6-7 years from now.
