Who do we target for a top 6 forward then? Just wondering your thoughts cause we are most likely making a push for one.

1 decent prospect, 1 great prospect, a top 9 forward, a 3rd-4th liner, and a 1st. Still might have to swap Bourgault with Broberg

I feel like that 4th line will be pretty bad, but with that top 9, defense and goaltending I feel like we could get it done

He was good defensively in all 4 rounds of playoffs he played here. Very very good in some. I also see moving Barrie right now will double bouchards next contract just padding his stats on pp. It's not going to have the results people think.</div></div>
I'll admit that he was better in the playoffs than in the regular season, but in the regular season he was terrible. I would rather a more consistent d-man
Also having Bouch on the powerplay will be way better than having Barrie on it. Barrie on the powerplay this season was worse than the season before

Barrie doesn't have a terrible contract thsts just foolish to even say.</div></div>
I disagree, I think Barrie needs to go, terrible at defense and we really need that cap space. We need a get a defensive defenseman to take his place, or we need to let the rookies play because they seem like they're ready.

Edmonton media are also trying to run him out of town (Mark Spector), saying the people in the locker room call him a "play killer" even though they don't call him that

It's sad because he is a top 6 player, he just needs to work on his finishing. He'll thrive somewhere else for sure.

The guy with a 6% EV Defense and 18% EV Offence as a defenseman isn't bad... alr man.
He also slowed down his offensive production from the 2020-21 season
Only upside he has is his passing

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Timmah007</b></div><div>How is he more proven than kosk was when he signed that deal? Husso had what 20 really good games that might be generous. Certainly not a sample size I'd be making another 4 year commitment. Talbot in my opinion far better to target shouldn't cost much to get has a fair cap hit and experience and limited commitment which gives skinner room to grow.
Kulak I'd be in on up to a Max of 2.750 million anymore I don't see a need being big enough to justify going higher.
Barrie was really good in the playoffs and think fans should be careful what they wish for seriously undervalued his contributions. Very good chance we wouldn't have gotten past LA without Barrie came up massive in game six.</div></div>
You're right with Husso, reconsidering the options we have I think I would rather get Jack Campbell on that deal
An overpay is necessary if he wants it, he was really good for us and needs to stay
Also idc Barrie is one of the worst defenders at defending in the league, doesn't matter if he was good in the playoffs he needs to go

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ceeque84</b></div><div>Overpay for Husso & Kulak.
Barrie is not garbage, he may not make sense for the oilers at this point because of cap space and Bouchard being capable of QBing the PP, but he is absolutely not garbage and has way more trade value than that crap with Dallas.
If the Oilers go and get Gagner then Ryan needs to be moved, they are basically the same player, but Gagner is younger and will be cheaper if you gave him some term. Try 3x$850k, no way he signs a 1 yr deal for $800k after the good season he just had.</div></div>
A necessary overpay for Kulak tbh (he needs to stay in EDM), and Barrie is trash, he is terrible at defending and we need defenders that can actually defend (could've gotten a higher pick with him in that Dallas trade though)
Ryan doesn't have to be moved, I agree that I should've gave Gagner a 2-3 year deal

Husso is different from Koski because Husso is more proven than Koski, could probably lower that contract to 5mil
Kulak at 4mil is good
And no, Barrie is garbage, I understand that there is a bad lefty and righty balance tho
Kulak plays both LD and RD, so i'll move Kulak to RD
