Ideal 2019-2020 Ducks

I'm genuinely curious as to how much Ducks hockey you know; I'm going out on a limb here because you don't seem to be overly familiar with the team, but there's a guy named Lubomir Visnovsky who was a defensive sieve but was great on the power-play for the Ducks (and has had the most point for a d-man post Pronger/Niedermayer). Ristolainen is a younger and better version of him. If I would make a bad GM, I couldn't even begin to imagine what that would make you.
</div></div>
This is where you're wrong big boy, I've been a ducks season ticket holder for 15 years, watched more games than you will ever in your life. You obviously missed the point about the fan perception, i'm not saying just because the fans don't like him that means he's bad. Ducks are not moving Comtois, they wouldn't have sent him back to Juniors to exempt him from the expansion draft if they wanted to trade him. I would obviously like to have Ristolainen but not at what the price you are putting him up to be. He's a weak defender, you say he had a bad partner this season, so you're saying a calder finalist, Rasmus Dahlin, is bad at Defense, ok gotcha. I would trade for Risto if you packaged Ritchie or Shore or Sprong.

Ideal 2019-2020 Ducks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RandyC</b></div><div>Couldn't agree less. Even being inherently biased as a Ducks fan, I still feel that if anything, its a little light for Ristolainen. He's been a lock for 40+ points on some marginal Sabres teams. Comtois at best will be a 30 goal guy. Larsson and Morand will both be solid NHL'ers, but are nothing to write home about. Even with throwing in an early second, I'm not entirely sold it's enough for a right handed D-man that consistently puts up points. I'd do this in a heartbeat as a Ducks fan, but could easily see it taking more to get him out of Buffalo.</div></div>
do you know much about Buffalo? The majority of Buffalo fans hate Ristolainen with a passion because he sucks defensively, the dude can put up points but can defend to save his life. This is a massive overpay, you don't know much about trade values it appears. I'm not giving up a pure goal scorer in Comtois. Why would I give 3 players that will most likely be solid NHL'ers for a defender who can't defend with a medium cap hit. Also another draft pick like wtf. San Jose didn't even have to give up super top prospects for ****in Erik Karlsson lol. Thank god you are not a GM.

Risto and Kakko
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mytduxfan</b></div><div>I guess I disagree. I think Sprong’s recent play has secured him a position for now. He may only be playing 10 mins a night, but he’s scoring goals and we need goal scorers, especially at the depth positions. My other concern in moving Sprong is that we walk away with very little after giving up another D-man. I really don’t want to see Petersson become a 3rd round pick and I’d be disappointed if we gave up on Sprong so early. He’s got ability, but he is still very raw. I’d like at least 1 season with him before we decide he’s the odd man out. However, I assume you don’t agree.</div></div>
I'm biased since i love Kase, dudes a burst of energy, plays every shift harder than his last, great defensively and can be a 20-30 goal scorer. I think Sprong might be packaged with another player for a D man but who knows.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mytduxfan</b></div><div>Ok, but we are stacked on the RW. Also, in this scenario, we draft Kakko. And even if we don't, we'd still have Sprong, Terry, Silfverberg and Perry to play RW.
I have to admit, I find your response very strange considering you've even posted Armchair GMs yourself were you move Sprong because there is no place for him on the RW.</div></div>
As much as I like Sprong he has downside because of his defensive play, he can only play offense, Kase is a well rounded player who can play on the PK. Also another thing is that we have started playing Silfvy sometimes on the left wing so maybe to Murray that opens a spot on the RW and Perry played the other night on left wing also not saying he's gonna be LW but Murray is trying stuff out. I love Sprong, the dudes a beast but I think he will be the one moved this offseason. Since he is playing 10 minutes a game and had been getting scratched.

They can start rebuilding
Carolina trade makes no sense, Ducks are not going to trade young guys away if we are "rebuilding" even though Murray said it's a re-tooling. Ducks are not giving up on Larsson their first round pick in 2015, Daniel Sprong a young goal scorer who has played really well since we acquired him, and the first round pick that they just acquired that they need to re-tool.
Why buyout Perry when you do not need the cap space right now, it's not like he's garbage like Eaves or Kesler. Perry is still a 35-50 point guy, he just hasn't played a lot this season because he missed 50+ games with knee surgery and coming back mid season is hard since everyone is up to full speed and he's just getting to skate for the first time. Only buyout I see logical is Kesler.
I can see Devin Shore being traded because there is not much room on the roster if we want all the young players to get a roster spot. Jones/Terry/Steel/Comtois. I think a 4th round pick is not enough to trade him, he's a great player. Maybe a 3rd or a 4th and a prospect.

What is more likely, that a 26(?) year old defenceman is having a bad year or that he fell off a cliff in terms of positive impact? That a 29-year old who's been sub-replacement level his entire career turns around and becomes good all of a sudden?

Producing more than Manson and has higher advanced stats than Manson and it's cheaper. If you watch any Ducks games this year you will see how bad and overpaid Manson is based off this season. Yes he's been great in past years, but this year he has been awful, with turnovers that result in goals and scoring chances.
