Call me crazy, I'd rather have Kuzy after his run later year. He looked like the best player in the league when he's on. I get he's inconsistent but so is Seguin.

Want no part of Spezza.

A trade like this is made because an organization needs a huge shakeup. I see Dallas needing that. Does Washington?

I think the third best player in this deal is Faksa so benefit Washington. Kuznetsov is younger benefit Dallas. Kuznetsov's contract is way better benefit Dallas. Don't feel confident commenting on the rest of the pieces. But j think this probably is a better trade for Dallas. But again the big question is does Washington want to do something as drastic as this?

(It's probably also stupid as Backstrom is a UFA in 1 year I think and if resigned is gonna want 10+ million. That would look better with kuznetsov's 7 and change than Seguins 10ish for the top 2 C's)

yeah i think you bring up the most intelligent point...whether this is a good move for washington. All in all, the caps prob wouldnt do it just because Kuzy fits well with Ovechkin, but he does get inconsistent and is never gonna put up huge goal numbers like seguin. Seguin is a better player than kuzy, but would it be worth it for the caps to potentially throw things off in the organization? Most likely wouldn't happen. There are times when Kuznetsov is frustrating as a player and seguin is a more consistent player and a better one too, but it might not be worth the risk for the caps to pull the trigger.

Seguin is a really good skater, but so is Kuznetsov. They're pretty similar, in terms of style. Those goal totals, though. He seems able to anchor his own line, so if Eller can play with Ovechkin and Wilson, the Caps could have a lot of really good lines: Ovechkin Eller WIlson; Connolly Backstrom Oshie; Vrana Faksa Spezza; Boyd Seguin Smith-Pelly. You can't really match lines against that. If you try to shut down Ovechkin and Seguin, Oshie and Vrana get you.

Dallas probably doesn't want to deal three good centers in any one move, though. If Kuznetsov is for Seguin and Burakovsky and Stephenson are for Faksa.... and Dallas still has to give back some salary, then in this limited scenario, would Nichushkin be more appealing than Spezza, as a return for Johansen?

I am willing to do the Kuznetsov/Segun swap just to get that stupid bird celebration off the team.

Faksa is better than Eller, and makes Eller movable.

Spezza is a UFA and not relevant to future plans.

With Stephenson and Burakovsky being FAs, and the retention, the 3rd probably needs to be higher/more.
