Description

Since everyone seems to want to trade Drouin, I'm going to take a crack at it.

I think a Drouin deal would resemble the Galchenyuk deal, 1 for 1, between 2 players around the same age.

Habs acquire a big LD which they've needed for a while and they have no one coming up for that D position. They also clear a F spot next year for a call up of Suzuki or Poehling (if he signs out of college).

The Rangers acquire a LW to take Kreider's spot because they'll probably trade him during next year, Drouin doesn't block Chytil or Andersson because they have many open spots for their top 6 and they have LD prospects coming in when they'll need them.

The trade could look like this, other assets might be added from both sides, but I really believe it will be a 1 for 1 trade.

If the Habs were trading Drouin (which they aren't despite what some fans think) this is exactly the type of deal they would be looking at.

If they want to trade Drouin for a defenseman..they should've kept Sergachev in first place. (also Skjei < Sergachev)

No need to trade Drouin in the short term. He has been a part of Mtl success this year. He had is best year ever and could improve next year. Keep on developping good young players and make good draft picks and Mtl will improve.
