Would 3 years not bring you into a similiar situation of possibly more buyouts of the signatures you got this summer

The thought process was that Nielsen signed a six-year deal entering his age 32 season and Abdelkader's extension ends when he will be 36...never understood the thought process. These deals are being given to younger players w/ shorter terms (or in Hayes' case the same term) which makes it less likely to have to utilize buy-outs. Who knows if the contracts are realistic, but I tried to be reasonable in estimating what they might get on the open market. The idea was going about the rebuild with a larger number of $5-$7 million players as opposed to shelling out mega deals for guys like Karlsson or Panerin which seem to be the most popular routes people take here.

maybe bailey but lee isn't leaving new York. All those free agents will get that money where they are now and stay there, why leave winning teams to come to Detroit unless they over pay. I think its 6.5 to get myers or gardiner to sign here probably hayers too.

Who are The Wings going to buyout? If they were going to buyout Ericsson it made a lot more sense to do it 2-3 yrs ago. The reason I don't think he gets bought out is respect Holland is loyal to a fault at one point this season Hronek got sent down because Blashill didn't want to sit Ericsson. At the start of the season Detroit ran an ad campaign for who will be the next captain it was between Larkin and Abdelkader. I can't see them buying out Abdelkader when they won't buyout Ericsson and will send a better D back to the minors so Ericsson doesn't have to sit?

Your a Winnipeg fan right? Now if Trouba will only sign a 1yr deal and you know he won't be back, does that make it more important to keep Myers?

Big summer my prediction is a a draft day trouba trade, and a Myers sign before July 1 or a 1 year deal on trouba and Myers walk, going to be interesting
