Description
So the oilers trade gives them a solid 2 way winger that has proven when given top 6 ice time that he can put up solid numbers, a solid bottom pairing dman who a solid PK player, a goalie that though is villified in toronto actually put up solid stats for a 3rd and 4th round pick. If Dubas can take those players and get a 3rd and 4th he can flip those picks, their other 2nd, Kapanen, Kadri, Marleau, and Holl for Kreider, Howden, and an AHL player that can play both forward and defense.

He is being traded to be bought out and resigned like Orpik was last draft.

Well, I don't think this is possible for a number of reasons.
1. I think the Orpik deal was a one time thing. It seemed like the league wasn't too thrilled about that, and there's precedent for them stepping in and saying, "no, we think this is meant to circumvent the cap, and while it isn't strictly against the rules, we're not allowing it." example: Kovalchuk. Also it's a 35+ deal, which is just pushing it a bit too far.
2. The Rangers would have to pay 3.833 million dollars in actual money. I know their franchise is wealthy, but that's going to cost in assets. Big time. It cost the caps Grubauer.
3. The Rangers aren't exactly against the cap, but I don't think they're in a position where they want to swallow the full 6.25 million.

Well If Kapanen is on the table and he is a building block for their organization they will need to make a sacrifice and they would acually only be paying 1.833 seeing in a buyout situation seeing the leafs resign him at 2 million so they are using 6.25 in cap they probably not ready to spend to pay out less than 2 for a quality building block.

Anything is possible, this scenario is an example of what's possible.

Only some things are probable, and this scenario is not one of those.
