Description
Leaves only two problem contracts on the table in '21 when Hughes and Pettersson have to be re-signed, Beagle and Seabrook. Beagle should be movable by then, and we can probably live with the latter if it means having Byram on his ELC patrolling the blueline :D

Ottawa saves about $1M in real salary, and gets a player who can contribute on the roster. Canucks get cap space and no salary commitments when Pettersson and Hughes sign extensions. Also a better 3rd string goalie for when injuries invariably hit.

The Chicago trade is a stretch. The Seabrook contract if tough.. but the #3rd OA for the 10th OA is a big price tag. There is a significant difference in quality of player between #3 and 10, I cant see Chicago pulling the trigger on that trade when they have almost 20 mil in cap space this year.

Generally yes but this year 3-10 are all on the same prospect level, as is 1-2.

Ottawa doesn't save any money with this deal. Most of Gaborik's contract gets paid through insurance, so they could be paying as little as 10% of his salary. Also moving Condon is a meaningless move for Ottawa.

I think Ottawa will take on Eriksson this offseason, but they're going to get paid while doing it.

laugh Hawks aren't dropping 7 spots just to unload on Seabrooks contract. Not even close.

If I'm Chicago I do the trade immediately, if Van adds something to what they give to the hawks. Seabrook's contract is abysmal and this year's draft is deep. 10OA pick could probably still land you a very very good player
