I know a lot of Chicago fans talk about how bad the Seth Jones contract is, But they kinda need his cap hit the next few seasons..
Three 2nds might get KD to listen, the prospects don't really move the needle much. Beaudin is a guy Chicago moved on from, and the other prospect is another LD which Chicago already has too many of.
Decent attempt at a Jones trade. But I don't think he's going anywhere.

I like the idea of Patches and Monahan. Two experienced guys to be around Bedard. Potentially flipped at the deadline.

Someone like Pesce would cost more..2024 1st, Stankoven and Stranges ?
I know you are just using Pesce as an example, the original package probably doesn't get a dman of that quality.

Chicago has a long list of D prospects, they should be giving their own guys a chance before moving draft picks for Lil-J.

We havent seen a home grown offensive prospect in a while (Kurashev?) so I don't know why I hold onto the optimism..
I agree Chicago will eventually have to trade one/some of their 100 D prospects, I just don't think that time is now.

I dont like this for Chicagos POV.
The forwards are coming. Nazar, Green, Hayes, Savoie, Dach, I still like Ludwinski and Stjernborg. Plus who ever is added this year..
Chicago has a young forward to play with Bedard this season and you already have him on Bedards left wing.

Im not positive Buffalo beats that offer. Devon Levi could be special, plus the ELC makes him even more valuable.
You cant always count on a young goalie but Buffalo has been building from within all along. I would be surprised if they went after Hellebuyck now that Levi has arrived.

Even extreme cap dumps have some modicum of rationality. Did Toronto get the equivalent of Blackwell and Hardman when they dumped Petr Mrazek, or did they get a second-round draft pick back?
Tell you what: we'll give you Petersen and Turcotte for the Ottawa second. Whaddya say?</div></div>
Fair point, im not familar with LAK prospect pool.
If D is what they need the return can be different. I was trying to give LAK the most cap space, moving 5 Mil out without committing to money coming in, all it costs them is a young forward..

Keep the Rebuild Going
19 picks in the first 3 rounds of the next 3 drafts is a pretty good draft pick stockpile.
I do agree that this UFA class isnt a great, and this should not be the year Chicago hands out long term deals. But they do need too surround Bedard with some NHL level talent.

Im a Chicago fan, I get that his value is more than just his on ice production.
But I still think if he does decide to play it doesn't cost that much. Taking a team friendly deal is the exact thing a leader like Toews would do if hes chasing another cup.
If Corey Perry the former Heart trophy, Rocket Richard, Stanley Cup, 2 x Gold Medalist and WJC Gold isnt a good comparable im not sure who is..

If Toews does decide to continue playing the third line 3C in Pittsburgh might be a nice fit. He shouldn't cost that much, but I will be surprised if he doesnt retire.
Corey Perry's contracts might be a better idea of what Toews might cost. After he left Anaheim Perry signed 1 x 1.5 with Dallas (Cup Final), 1 x 750K Montreal (Cup Final), 2 x 1M Tampa Bay (Cup Final)

Id be ok with bringing Domi back instead of Rodrigues. Mutual interest and Domi likes Richardson.. maybe it works
Gus probably doesnt have a spot on Chicagos blue line, its time to give someone from the AHL a chance, Galvas? Regula? Roos? Tindori should be healthy..
Del Mastro and probably Kaiser start the year in the AHL.
