I don't think either of those players you want to trade for are worth anywhere near a first round pick.

You're probably right, but you know how the market goes, especially as it pertains to physical defensive defensemen (plus when they get retention). All of this would happen closer to the TDL, so premium prices are going to be paid

Your bottom 6 have 12 goals in a 112 man games. Jarnkrok has 5 in 21 games. So your other 5 players in 91 man games have 7 goals. Secondary scoring is non-existent.

Chicago might accept this deal if Toronto keeps the career AHLers and just sends picks.

Murphy could be Torontos plan b after they miss out on Tanev.

Trust me, I really do understand where you are coming from. Don't get me wrong I love Murphy, he is a great mentor for our rebuild, strong defensively, physical, and a strong leader. But, I'm not going to pretend he is some superstar dman, either. This is just the way the market is. RHD are like gold in the NHL, especially ones that can eat top 4 minutes for breakfast, and especially ones with term at an affordable cap hit. The reality is, if the offers for him are anything less than a late 1st, he is worth more to CHI just staying on their roster, and that is why any team that wants him will have to pay up.

Nicely said! If you want the Hawks to take the Marlies players switch the 3rd round pick to a 2nd.
