Woah this was a surprise to me, but a very good one! Very happy for him and the Hawks. He's a #1 LD in the NHL today after what was essentially his rookie year and that's extremely hard to find for 6 years $4.6M.

Chicago 2024-25
I like the idea of giving Reichel a look on his off side. I was just talking about it the other day. Kurashev will be traded before he is scratched. Zaitsev, more than likely, won't be back. Don't see a point to offer sheeting Leason, or anyone for that matter. Commesso won't be up next year for any extended period of time, he could potentially get a few games, though. Also, you are under the salary floor. But, overall, not a bad first attempt. Welcome to Cap friendly!

The rangers are 8th in the league and 1st in the Metro. Y'all lost one game. Relax.
Also, CHI would NOT do that. Like zero chance at all.

Hawks easily decline. They wouldn't take Kampf back if that 3rd was going to them along w/ Kampf. They definitely aren't paying anything for him

Kurashev is one of the very few pieces on the current Chicago roster that could be a part of the long term plan, he seems to have built up a bit of chemistry with Bedard. I don’t see anything going to the Hawks that would intrigue them enough to pull the trigger on this proposed deal.

Hawks decline, they are loaded with left shot d-men prospects, there is no reason to trade a 2nd round pick for another.

Hawks decline. Can't see why they'd trade a young, likely NHL regular by then in Dach and two picks for two aging vets in the final year of their deals. That makes no sense.

Per the conditions on that 1st round pick from the Hagel trade. It is top 10 protected. If the pick is in the top 10, CHI will then receive TBL's 2026 1st round pick unprotected.

Hawks teams last year and this hardly lends any support to any goalie. Mrazak playing FAR better than Vanacek this season behind a far worse team.

Exactly this ^
As soon as I seen 4th round with 50% retention I immediately said no way in H. If I’m Chicago negotiating my second slot away for 50% retention I’m asking for a 2nd at least. Not due to the little bit of salary involved but more so because of losing that retention slot to utilize on possibly a bigger deal.

This makes no sense for Chicago, LHD is literally the deepest position in their prospect pool; Vlasic, Korchinski, Kaiser, Del Mastro, Allan, Phillips, Roos; they don’t really have room for another team’s failed pick. They definitely are not trading Raddysh for another LHD prospect if all they get in addition is a 5th round pick. Up the pick to a 2nd round selection and perhaps the Hawks bite, otherwise the most you could hope for is the Hawks swapping one of their lower level LHD prospects for Broberg, like Roos one for one.

Balance
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Affectionate_Side_64</b></div><div>I'm trying to make you understand that you don't speak for Chicago, because you clearly don't recognize their "needs" as a team in a scorched earth rebuild. You know who else has an overpaid defenseman at 9.5 mil and a generational talent? Edmonton, who drafted McDavid EIGHT years ago. Where is your version of Draisatl at 8 x 8.5? Or RNH at 7 x 6 mil? Or Hyman at 7 x 5.5? Or Kane at 4 x 5.125? What is your version of prime Taylor Hall as a trade asset? Has KK become Evan Bouchard already?
Here's the answer, you have none of that because you literally just started the most severe scorched earth rebuild the league has ever seen 1 year ago. And as for the Nurse + McDavid vs Jones + Bedard comparison, the critical difference is Nurse is only 2 years older than McDavid, while Jones is 11 years older than Bedard, along with everything else I just mentioned. So, I'm giving you specific information to explain why Jones does not fit your window of contention, and why the sooner you sell on him the better off you'll be.
Did you honestly think your rebuild was over once you drafted Bedard, after shipping out almost every piece of value on your team? If so, you'll have to learn at your own pace. Unfortunately if you don't understand this already it will take multiple years to recognize, but thanks for your feedback, Kyle Davidson!</div></div>
Even though Jones will not be a key part of the team when the Hawks are ready to compete, he is important to the team now simply because you can’t throw out 20 guys 23 and younger on the ice and expect that it won’t hinder their development. You need to surround the Bedard’s, Korchinski’s, Vlasic’s with veterans who can show them how to prepare and play at the NHL level.
So you can argue that Jones is overpaid which is true but that doesn’t matter to the Hawks with their current cap situation, they can easily afford both him and Murphy on the backend and will gladly pay their freight because of the importance they play in helping to develop the young d-men. If you want to trade for either of them, then you will have to overpay and contrary to what you think, that offer is not an overpay.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Affectionate_Side_64</b></div><div>Lol, I purposely made this an overpayment that would be a no brainer for the Hawks. You decline because someone tried to trade for a Blackhawks player, "the Hawks" do not decline because they have a basic level of competence.</div></div>
If you honestly think this is an overpayment, you really have no business being on this website. The Hawks absolutely decline. And that has nothing to do with being "a homer" or a Hawks fan. Whatever you think Niemela is worth, you probably should've made that argument 2 years ago, because he isn't anymore. Hirvonen isn't worth anything. I like Lily, but he doesn't have as much trade value as you seem to think. And a late 1st doesn't have nearly as much value as you seem to think, either. CHI would be better served keeping Jones and Raddysh, not tying up a retention slot for 7 years, re-signing Raddysh in the summer, and only thinking about trading Jones if he asks for a trade. Because he has all the power anyway, and he seems pretty content with being a part of the rebuild.
