Though Stamkos is more than likely not going to waive his NMC, and TB might not be sellers like everyone thinks they will be, this might be the best offer I've seen thrown for him. Could be tough to beat if it ever was offered or realistic.

Great trade here potentially for both parties. Wonder if Sharks gave another team a 4th or 5th rounder that they would do the retention for SJ so they could have one slot remaining for another deal?

If New York offered this. Tampa would be BEGGING Stamkos to waive. That package is way too big for New York to consider.

FYI.. Harpur is done for the year so might want to use a different 7D

Thanks for the comments. I’m a big fan of both teams and I really like it from both sides. Might be just what the Rangers need to get over the hump with another top 6 option who can play all 3 positions. Tampa can restock with some younger guys as well, banking some on potential, but still decent value and it doesn’t gut the Rangers system. Appreciate the discussion.

I'm one of the biggest Stamkos supporters and would love him to be a lifetime Bolt, but if an offer like this comes along and you look at how this addresses so much of your needs while shipping out Perbix, it would be REALLY tough to say no

Iit might be, but it’s a big swing and done with the hope of resigning Stammer for a few more years. Ironically we’d have $18 mil in cap space to sign Stammer and Lindgren and fill out the team so not terrible. Plus we still keep Othmann and Perrault, does hurt losing Schneider, but you gotta give to get.

I really see this as a beneficial one. Bolts get younger, while Rangers make that big push while all of our core guys are in their prime. I love it.

I don't like this trade at all for the Rangers. Mortgaging the future like that for an albeit still elite but aging and rental Stammer is one of the last moves I would do. I would guarantee that Drury agrees with me

Well like it or not, they are considerably better with Stamkos currently than with both Chytil and Kakko. Panarin, Kreider, Zibanejad, Trocheck aren’t getting any younger.

Kakko has been meh so whatever on that front. But I think Chytil is fantastic when healthy, and you're forgetting about Schneider and the two firsts which is the majority of the value in this deal.

Too many young players moving away from the team, in my opinion. I'm not crazy about sending all of the Fil, Kakko and Schneids away.

Why would you trade a younger Trouba(Schneider)?

There’s no guarantee Schneider actually will become Trouba. Plus you can’t actually believe it’d be smart to trade Trouba in the next year or so while he’s the captain and in the prime of his career. And Stamkos is far superior than Kakko and Chytil in our window to win.

Sure because both are injured. Chytil was playing very well before that, and moving kakko now is a sell low move. The rangers have shown they're willing to be patient and not sell low.
This move absolutely ruins the rangers depth which is a huge thing when trying to make a run in the playoffs.

That depth you speak of has never done anything when it’s counted. How many more years of Panarin, Zibanejad and Kreider are we going to waste? It’s foolish to keep waiting for tomorrow when the best forwards on the team are already at 30 or beyond 30.

And heres the problem. I dont think its the panarin mika and kreider that will cause us to win a championship. Those three have done the bulk of the offensive lifting since 2019, and we've gone 2 rounds total in the playoffs.
Depth scoring is beyond valuable in the playoffs, and the depth i speak of hasn't done anything when its counted?? Are you kidding? in 22 when the kids were absolutely monsters in the playoffs and our best line, we won games.

I highly doubt we have a better chance winning a cup with Chytil Laf and Kakko than with Panarin, Mika and Kreider at the forefront. That’s not even wishful thinking that’s just foolish. What happens when Lindgren, Miller and Shesty need to get paid, the depth is gonna get worse. Unless we get some Tage Thompson esque breakouts I just can’t see it, but I admire your optimism.
