Description
I think it will be really easy to trade backes, but it would have to be with another asset. The reason why I chose heinen is:
a cap dump
going after ferland and hes an upgrade, as well as, re-singing johansson
yes heinen is skilled but hes not a big energy player for someone I only see being a middle6 guy his whole career.
pretty inconsistent

Speaking of ufa’s, the only players i would consider looking at is ferland and/or dzingel. Out of the two I would rather take ferland considering his big frame and the energy he brings, as well as his decent offensive upside. I feel like if you put him with krech and jake his numbers would go up. The most I would sign him for is 5mil, let some other team overpay for him.
I think it should be relatively easy to re-sign johansson, seems like he likes it here in BOS. I would also not pay him more than 5mil.

For the lines, coyle's rw is open for grabs, whether that's stud, kuhlman, bjork, cehlarik or steen. I think its time for chara to move down the lineup as apparent to how teams have exposed him at times during the playoffs, plus griz and mcavoy have good chemistry anyway since being d partners in college. I think grizz has proven how good he is this year and has shown he can take on more responsibility. The only draw back to him is his size for a top2 defender.

In terms of rfa's, I think the only way to re-sign good young players AND keep the core group together in the salary cap era are cheap bridge deals.

Personally think that Sweeny will try and hold onto Heinen and move a different young player like Bjork, or JFK to be able to move Backes (involving a three team trade like you said).

I really like the Ferland off season signing and can definetly think Johansson will re-sign. Him Coyle and Heinen have developed great chemistry in the playoffs.

Ferland will be Backes 2.0, love the player now but a few years down the line he'll either be too injured to play or just not good.

JFK and Cehlarik are probably gone, at least one will try to be moved with Backes in the offseason, I dont see Heinen getting dealt, too good of a glue guy
