this might work

it address's VGK needs as well as giving Miller a partner he's familiar with to light up PP

its a high cost given Smiths consistency playing with Marchessault in FLA and VGK but if you're taking a cap dump it helps make it barable .

I like it. With all of the forward upgrades Vegas has made i think the loss of Smith is bearable, especially as Tuch/Glass continue to improve. Only problem would be just losing Krug next offseason for nothing. Vegas is super tight on the cap, and Krug will probably want a raise. Don't think VGK would pay more than $7M ish

they could but the bright side is that buy's them a year to see if Schuldts a solution .
if not i see them moving out a guy like Mcnabb to dump a Haula so they can re-sign Krug to 2-3 year deal

Krugs better off staying with VGK and getting more money over less time as long term deals in the cap era see guys forced out to clear cap . a Guy like Alzner coulda easily played on a half dozen NHL teams as a bottom pair Hits/BS leader but his cap and term screw teams to hard to let him even though he's capable .

VGK is flashy enough to possibly wooo Krug into a 3 year commitment to win a cup

Krug trade above is not enough for krug. why would the bruins trade and RETAIN his salary as well as take eakins salary and buy that out? makes zero sense from cap perspective as the bruins.

If you can move Backes' contract you have a lot of room and should use that to get a top 6 RW. The UFA options aren't great so I'd rather trade for one. Krug is the best trade chip they have and Smith is a good return for Krug. Eakin is because Vegas has cap problems, maybe you get a pick as well but Vegas fans think this is about even.
