Unfortunately the defense hasn't really been upgraded. Honka is unproven and is not worth a million.

If Kadri doesn't have more value than that, you have to keep him. I don't see Pearson helping Toronto very much. Manning was on waivers last year, if Toronto didn't want him then I don't think he's a good return for Brown.

Given how tight the cap is, it is not reasonable to expect upgrades this year, unless Marleau and Zaitsev are both moved without taking back salary. Maybe next year we will see upgrades.

Even after all that, they are still just under cap.

Starting to think best route may be just to trade Marner, keep everyone else.

If they got rid of Zaitsev & Marleau...then traded Marner for Hall, could they afford everyone else?
