Yea, it's strange to me that Ceci is even mentioned in the trade. Ottawa has obviously checked to see if has trade value...and there isn't any so they are giving him to the Leafs. Leafs likely can't afford him so they wouldn't tender him. So looks like Ceci is going to be a UFA either way. Not that I think Ceci is a poor player , but he has to be offered 4.3m or he can walk as UFA. Maybe no team is going offer him 4.3m, but good for Ceci if he can be UFA and investigate his options.

take ceci if they'll give him. you can probably flip him for something else. Hes a young guy, has had flashes youll get takers.

I’m sure dubas has already spoke with his agent and got a number on ceci. If he didn’t like that number then yes maybe he just lets him walk in ufa. I don’t understand why he would trade for his rights in that case.

Maybe Toronto takes Ceci and flips him for a mid round pick? Idk, this seems like a strange trade for both teams and the 'getting to the cap floor' trade idea is nonsense cause the Sens would be better off to sign cheap veterans which there'll be many of looking for jobs to one or two year deals rather then saddling themselves with a lot of term like Zaitsev has, not that Zaitsev's AAV is really that high but still why bother.
Not a fan of either team but it really doesn't make much sense.
