Description
After the trade for Anderson and subsequent contract signing, the Leafs are a little limited on cap space. The only way they will be able to make adding Stammer possible is to shed some salary through trades and take minimal salary back. I know this would be a lot of trades to make in one summer, but all are quite possible in my opinion. This is probably not a realistic lineup, just brainstorming some ideas.

THe JVR to NYI deal might not be completely even, the leafs may need to add something small like a lower draft pick or B prospect to balance it out. The Isles need a winger for Tavares (hopefully he leaves for the leafs!) after losing Okposo, and JVR gives them a big skilled winger who will be a minimum 60 pt player playing with JT. Dal Colle gives the leafs a JVR replacement (sends to marlies for one year) and the 19th overall pick in the first round. A good prospect and later first round pick should be the going rate for a player like JVR.

Bernier going to calgary is only assuming they lose out on trading for Fleury/Bishop, I assume Bernier it not their ideal target.

Bozak would need to be moved out to make room for Stammer, assuming he will go to Arizona. He may to garner a load of minutes and increase his value for one last pitch at FA in two years. The leafs also send hunwick and receive Michalek, a solid RH defenceman for one year, as the d will be the focus of the next offseason with forwards and goal pretty much set.

The leafs draft Matthews, sign PA and Enroth to short term (2 year deals) to go along with the big addition of Stammer. The next offseason, the focus will have to be adding an impact defenceman, with Laich, Greening, Robidas and both Michaleks coming off the books, along with an assumed buyout of Lupul. Playoff contenders in 2017-2018 hopefully, go leafs go!

Again, probably not completely realistic, but not way out in left field. Welcome your comments hockey fans, but keep it constructive, it is fine to disagree but no need for thrashing someone thinking you are a tough guy behind a keyboard!

Yep, some money has to sent out to sign Stamkos. Just wondering if the Isles would really want to help the Leafs and their cap, so the Leafs could sign Stamkos. Apparently the Isles may be in the running to sign Stamkos. Wonder if the Coyotes, who do have centres would really want Bozak. If they knew the Leafs cap troubles, they probably wouldn't include the draft pick. Same with Bernier, Calgary might be a good fit, but the return might be a 7th rounder.

No chance calgary takes Bernier. Toronto would likely have to retain half of his salary just to move him. Calgary had way better options right now and the goalie market is flooded. Toronto is likely stuck with him for the year which isn't horrible. It's nice to have to solid goalies.
