Yeah, but if you change the first rounder + B prospect to an A prospect it still make sens

Petry is a good player that should return a decent asset back but if the Habs are looking to move him, think something more along the lines of what Toronto paid for Muzzin (similar but not exactly) last year. The best asset of the deal will be a lottery protected 1st round pick, not a high end top prospect. Then add a couple lesser pieces to that in the form of B prospects and/or some additional later picks. Habs may have to retain some salary or take a not so big cap dump in return though but that shouldn't be a problem if they moving Petry's salary out.

This isn't algebra. 1st + B prospects doesn't necessarily = A prospect. That is too ambiguous.
