From a Ducks POV, I wouldnt be comfortable doing this until Steel proves hes ready for the NHL since our Centres line up like this most likely

Getz
Henrique
Steel
Grant/Rowney

Even if Steel shows he can play top 6 I'm not sure I comfortable trading Henrique his leadership and intangibles are super valuable to a young retooling/rebuilding team like the Ducks, and I'm not sold on Risto being the RD answer for us.

Sabres POV - I doubt theyd be happy parting with Risto for Henrique, but i dont know how much they do get back for him if he is dealt, being said I don't think BUF is getting enough Value back

Fair enough, and good points. I don't think either team does it, but it would help both teams fill an area position of need from an area of strength (not that Risto is the answer the ducks are looking for ditto for Buffalo and Henrique). You're right about Steel needing to prove himself, however, even if he falters it shouldn't be too hard to acquire a 3rd line(ish) center, as even if he's overmatched in that role Anaheim is retooling so getting another high draft pick wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

My thing with Steel is more so of protecting his development into a top 2 C for us in the future (Him and Zegras) so I want to be more conservative his throwing him to the wolves and let him get acclimated to the NHL game in the 3rd line role, and Henrique and Getz can be great mentors for him and can help him transition smoothly

I'd do the same thing if I was Anaheim. Like I said, I don't think either team does this trade. I was just curious what both fan bases thought.

As a Ducks fan, I'd pass but that's mainly due to the fact that I don't want Ristolainen. But say we were acquiring a RHD that I did like that made similar money I'd be more open to it but share the same reservations as Salzy. The only position group where we're abundant and can afford to lose a guy or two is on the wing. Guys like Ritchie, Shore and Sprong are players I'd be willing to move for a solid RHD who wouldn't break the bank. Problem is those guys don't seem to be the kind of wingers other's would be willing to give up for a good RHD. Which is why it's near the end of August and our roster looks like it does.
