Eakin is not a better player than Eller, either. Eakin had bad possession stats on a dominant possession team in Vegas, and shot way above his career shooting percentage. I'd be extremely surprised if he scored 22 again. I'd rather keep Eller.

The Caps' cap situation is not good enough to justify having a $5M center and a $5M third pairing defenseman.

Trading Eller to bring in Eakin is bad. BUT that being said, if Caps could get Bellows and a 2nd for him I'd do that in a second. But no way NYI does that.
