Description
GM moves since July .. was utter disaster previous year.. have been solid. Signing Paquette and Vaz .. trading for a RD Shatterkirk.. trading Callahan for cap room .. trading Erne who was meh to me and now trading for Cup veteran grinder type Maroon .. he batting 1000 since July and obviously following my posts and suggestions.

Granted I will never forgive him for Gourde as the signing way wrong .. both the timing amount and contract structure and didn't have cojones to trade him in June but I digress .. What is next before Point? .. a top 6 winger and we CUP favorites
Trades
TBL
  1. Frolík, Michael
Additional Details:
Big Top 6 wing is ONLY piece now missing .. for Maroon on 4th .. Frolik goes to 2nd .. have to win Cup NOW .. no 2020 impact either
CGY
  1. Domingue, Louis
  2. Rutta, Jan
Additional Details:
Calgary has cap issues and goalie issues .. this helps with both .. may have to add a draft pick also but Rutta will enable them to trade Harmonic and net a winger to replace Forlik and gives cap room

Frolik is a nice additional if Point isn't signed. But how do you plan to fit Point under the cap with a Frolik on the team?

Agree with your narrative. You've been a positive factor within the Lighting management team. Now time to hit a home run and sign Point.

After Frolik trade above . We are cap tight.. I would start burying people in Syracuse or more deals like Condon deal where you essentially buying cap space .. I see no reason why at least 3 Crunchers forwards are not in top 13 .. bury vets for space and drive them to take trades

Tampa doesn't have cap space for Frolik and there's no way around it.

I’ve been saying that we should sign Maroon for a long time until I heard he was looking for a couple million with term. I don’t understand how BriseBois managed this one, but I’m very impressed.

That being said, I don’t see any way BriseBois gets CGY to accept this one. Frolik is actually not that big (under 200 pounds) or high-scoring (under 20 goals), and while he may be physical, we have plenty of small forwards who are physical, Gourde being a great example. And as we’ve seen, in the playoffs when penalties aren’t called and determination is high, except for the absolute best of fighters (Tom Wilson, for example), those types of players aren’t enough. Is Frolik really a top-six forward on our roster who can overcome a size disparity and help outmuscle a bigger team? And if so, why would Calgary trade a top-six forward who adds physicality (which they too lack) when they’re Cup contenders?

I agree that we need a top-six big physical power forward, but I would much prefer to overpay a little to rent Kreider. He has a one-year deal, is thought to be on the trading bloc, is fast enough to keep up with our top-six forwards, scored 50pts and almost 30g last season, would immediately be the biggest player on our roster, thrives as a physical power forward, and has great playoff experience. The Rangers are frequent partners and have room to retain, and, unlike Calgary, are not Cup contenders who need to keep physical players for a deep run. We’d have to pay a lot (a 1st, a 3rd, and a good-ish prospect is probably enough), but I think that’s someone BriseBois should be looking at.

Flames do not have goalie issues. Rutta sucks. They decline. Taking on Frolik contract when you have to sign Point is not wise.

Domingue will get traded for a 4th or 5th before the season starts.
