Gotta think that Detroit might not want to do this as Mantha and Athanasiou are really good young players, but Marner is tricky in that I don't know whether or not other GMs value him as highly as the Leafs do. If they like him enough to give him 11M+ on a long term deal, they'd probably pull the trigger, but I think Yzerman would rather let Toronto stew over the Marner situation and hope it goes poorly for them.

It's not terrible but Wings pass. Marner just wants too much money, Yzerman is big on getting guys signed to team friendly deals.
