That's not who I expected, but it does start with the same letter.

This should meet each side's criterion of, "we'd never trade this guy, but...." It's really tough to guess which of them scores more goals in the next few years. Some goal scorers peak early. Some are ageless. If it happens it's a one for one. Nobody's adding on either side.

2nd edit: I'm assuming you posted this in response to the Jets fan posting that article comparing Laine's first two years to Ovi's. I ran the numbers on their first three years, and it's not close: https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/272922&post_id=1096500

I expect Ovechkin to retire as a Cap (period)

... but if you were to trade him you would want someone like Laine in return. Not going into what a total package would look like, but 34 year old Ovechkin for 21 year old Laine is not a bad foundation for the Caps. Oldest guy on the team (by 3 years) out, 21 year old in... not a bad start. But like I first said, I expect Ovechkin to retire a Cap.
