Alzner won't cost much in a year to be buyout... or you can even trade him to OTTAWA as is cap value would be 4,625... with a real salary of 3M (+ day one bonuses of 1,5M on the first year)

So basically Ottawa (or any other team that need to reach to bottomcap) get 4,6M on their book and it will cost them 5M for 2 years for real $... MTL could even retain1M to reduce that payout

IMO this contract is gonna be an albatross in a few years. The Pickle man is good, but father time is undefeated.
plus I dont like teams bailing out other teams for bad contracts. They knowingly gave the guy a long term deal into his late 30's knowing that his game will decline.
Same can be said for the Burns and Karlsson's deal. These guys are studs but they'll be 37 and 39 when their deals expire and are owed 11.5 and 8 mill AAV
