Description
Seen a lot of MTL trades on here where Bergevin apparently forgot how to do the job. Guy has never lost a trade in his career and yet people on this site think he would just start giving players away for cheap
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. 2020 6th round pick (MIN)
MIN
  1. Kulak, Brett
Additional Details:
Got a 2nd for Scandella but for the cheaper, younger and better player he would only get a 6th
2.
NSH
  1. Kotkaniemi, Jesperi
Additional Details:
He gives up on the 19 year old that had over 30 points as the youngest player in the league last year and averaged a ppg in the AHL this year but he was to injured play in the NHL this year so time to give up in him and takes on an older reclamation project
3.
MTL
  1. Claesson, Fredrik
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (ARI)
NJD
  1. Drouin, Jonathan
Additional Details:
Frenchman that was hurt all year, time to move on. Ignore the that he is 24, is easily capable of over 50 points a season and signed for under 6 million. Get the pick and bottom pairing dman.

That Nashville trade is a Montreal loss Kotkaniemi is a far superior prospect imo.

He lost the Shaw trade badly (the first one). Debrincat and Girard. Ouch.

I think he lost the Drouin and Sergachev trade. Sergachev just finished his last year of his ELC, Drouin been getting paid $5.5M in each of those years, and it cost the habs Radulov and Markov.

Alzner was a very bad signing. Price not looking good either.

Apart from that the good definitely outweighs the bad. Danault, Tatar, Suzuki, Petry, Vanek, Weber, Armia, Domi, all wins. Claiming Byron, signing Chiarot etc. Also added a ton of picks for Timmins to use in the draft lately, giving MTL a top 5 prospect pool in the NHL.

Is he as bad as others have claimed? No but there is literally no way you can say he has never lost a trade. Or at the very least "lost" is impossible to determine until all pieces involved have played out their careers and after the dust settles, then you can accurately determine which were winners and losers. There are some that many would bet money on being bad trades though.

With that said, overall, MB's problem hasn't been trades. Its been the other aspects of his job that he has not been very good at IMO.
