Description
Flat cap no CBO, this was skyraider's idea

This team is in an odd spot, they aren't good enough to compete for a cup, and I don't think it'd be smart to sell off picks and guys like Beaudin Mitchell Boqvist Altarbaymakian or Barratt etc, they'll be ready sooner rather than later and can help compete in the next generation, but they can't really sell off and give up on the last years of Kane and Toews, unless they actually move those two which they wouldn't do... Right Bowman... So holding pat it is... Also Seabs isn't LTIRetired imo, he'll just miss a significant enough amount of time (his timeline doesn't have him coming back to like Jan at the soonest iirc) that his cap hit is largely ignored giving them enough space for the rest of the year

Additional Details:
**if CDH can be placed on LTIR to start year if he isn't health this trade is unnecessary**

I like CDH, I think he still has value, CHI trades up a round, MTL gets another 2020 pick and "upgrades" their LHD (Mete and Kulak are two of the most underrated players in the NHL, but ?‍♀️)

Okay...here we go...deep breathe

1) Kubalik is getting nowhere near that. He is not arbitration eligible and his only option is to go back to Europe where they don’t pay anywhere close to the his offer with the Hawks which will be in the $3’s.

2) Where is Ian Mitchell? He’s a sure fire starter so why would you move Maatta to the right?

3) De Haan is worth a lot more then moving up from a 4th to a 3rd. He’s worth a 3rd hands down.

4) almost a sure thing that Smith is traded or bought out. Highmore can play, he’s missing here. Kurashev is another guy who gets a shot, he’s the next best offensive prospect next to Dach and Nylander.

5) Carlson is ahead of Seeler and it’s not close.

6) Cat has never played well on the first line, he’s a 2nd or 3rd liner due to his size. The line that was working really well was Kubalik - Toews - Saad...there is no reason so change that.

7) Caggiula is done? You didn’t even trade his rights?

I believe Kubalik is eligible for arbitration, at least cap friendly says he is since he's 24 and has more than 10 games played. Either Way 5.5 mil is too high for a single season.

Also I've heard that Mitchell actually prefers to play LD as a right handed shot but I'm not 100% sure that's accurate.

And I agree Carlson>Seeler but I think I'd rather have Seeler in the press-box so Carlson gets more time to develop in the AHL.

Regardless I agree with all your points.

Imo that's still an underpay, he was relatively consistent throughout the year, and he was the second or third best rookie imo (Hughes is just a PP merch, Kubalik somehow never scored a bunch on the PP... Ig he did, just didn't get put on it till half way through the year ig

I totally forgot Mitchell... It's what happens when you do these at midnight lol

I've seen people paying a third to take him... I want really sure on his value bc I was like he's better than that, but like idk so I list did what I did for John Moore lol

That would get you cap too... Yup

Yeah I had no idea, CF normally has like 5 depth d men up on roster I just picked one

I mean he only played like 40 games, was he hurt? And is 26, I just let him go unqualified, though I could certainly have brought him back if Smith gets boughtout or smth

Maatta is pretty exclusively a LD, which actually works out. Koekkoek played RD a bunch. Agreed that Smith will either get traded or bought out. I dont think Kubalik will get that kind of money. I'd also keep Debrincat with Strome. 2nd or 3rd line imo. Toews Kubalik and Saad was a very potent line last year. I think they stay together and Dach with Kane would be good together. It'll be very interesting to see who gets that LW spot. They better have a snipe.

Why trade de Haan? He played really well when he was playing. He is supposed to make a full recovery and will be back. I'd rather trade Maatta instead
