Description
My understanding is that Chicago is going to be extremely tight on cap and will likely have to shed some players, Kubalik is a player prime for the picking. Correct me if I'm wrong through.

bad idea for a 24 year old who played one season. is kubalik worth a possible lottery pick?

You're correct on the description. I don't think CHI could match this as is, but there are a number of options they can employ. Buyout Smith saves $2M this year and Buyout Maatta saves ~$3.5M. Not preferred options, but also keep in mind that you can't protect that 2021 1st either. I don't see it happening, but its certainly interesting.

Doubt that pick ends up as a lottery with this roster, #1 problem with sharks was their goalie situation, Greiss coming in should help stabilize things, and Jones couldn't possibly be worse. Vlasic actually getting a partner that plays D will help, he thrives when put in pure shutdown role. Top 6 is fantastic and as long as there isn't stupid level of injuries, then its worth it.

Killorn is not a solution, puts up middle 6 numbers, just turned 30, and all the stats show that his teammates do better without him, consistently, while the opposite is the case with Kubalik. Easily could be a very bad trade. Meanwhile, there isn't one thing that has shown Kubalik can't maintain his level of production or increase it.
