That's A LOT for 2 years of Gaudreau. Take out the 1st and it's more fair.

Gaudreau would 100% resign with Philly and probably at a discount if he was traded there so no it's actually not enough. They would probably be looking at at least 6 years of Gaudreau who is an elite talent. The 1st is in the range of late 20's too. Do you think that package is enough to get Marner (neglecting cap)?

I'd say that's a pretty fair package for Marner. I don't think you can neglect cap value in these trades especially with the cap likely staying flat for the next 3-4 years.

Now if Gaudreau was signed for 1M for the next 2 years then this would be a fair deal but he's not.

Also I don't know how you can say that he will 100% resign with Philly. What if New Jersey sends him a big offer? They have a lot of cap space... and what players are taking discounts these days especially with a lot of their money being lost to escrow.

Gaudreau grew up just outside of Philly as a big Flyers fan, and not a Devils fan. Why would he sign with New Jersey?
