Description

With the Leafs’ pick that they got in the Patrick Marleau cap dump that is 13th overall(thanks for the input), the Carolina Hurricanes are proud to select, from St. Petersburg SKA of the KHL, Yaroslav Askarov!

The Canes solve their goalie problems with Askarov. With no slam-dunk goalie prospect in the system, Askarov will take a few years of development, where it is up to their GM what to do about Mrazek and Reimer, then he will burst onto the scene and carry the Canes to their first Stanley Cup(while Aho and Svech are in their primes).

For the short-term, while Askarov is in Russia, I would like to see the Canes sign a guy like Robin Lehner or Braden Holtby for less term but more money to bridge the gap. Hopefully Nedeljkovic or Helvig is up for backup duty.

I honestly think this will move the Canes in another direction. Thoughts?
