13th overall for kasperi kapanen? No no no my friend. Drop that pick by about 30 spots, then you’re talking.

Such a joke of a opinion though ....

Pittsburgh just traded this for Zucker:

- 1st round pick
- 2nd round pick
- Alex Galchenyuk

Jason Zucker is currently:

- A 28 year old borderline top-six forward
- A .53 point per game player over his career
- A 43 point per 82 game player over his career
- Signed at $5,500,000 x 4 years (after his prime)
- Not young enough to expect any improvement

Kaspari Kapanen is currently:

- A 23 year old borderline top-six forward
- A .55 point per game player over 2 full seasons
- A 45 point per 82 game player over 2 full seasons
- Signed at $3,200,000 x 3 years (entering his prime)
- Young enough to expect measurable improvement
- Already a penalty killer than Zucker (defender too)
- Still an RFA when his contract expires

I'll even digress and say Zucker slightly better today ... Kapanen:

- Is much younger (4.5 years)
- Is much cheaper ($2.3 million)
- Has much more potential to improve.
- Has much less age related regression risk.
- Should easily surpass Zucker during their deals.

Joke of an opinion, eh? Did we hurt your feelings?

Anyhow, lets just forget about zucker being the much better player, and goal scorer, and just get down to the trade terms your talking about.

What was at the time perceived to be a late first, a late second, and a cap dump for zucker.
Orrrrrr the 13th overall for kapanen.

Bit different, dont ya think, bud?

Just because JR makes dumb moves doesn’t justifies value for others to do the same
