Description
You wanna say we need more players to sign, no not really. We need to focus on our re-signings

Robert Thomas
Jordan Binnington
Jaden Schwartz

Gunnarsson might be offloaded, in that case we have Mikkola, and Perunovich to fill the gaps as "scratches" or if another LD is offloaded.

Bortuzzo could be traded, but i'm not so sure if it would be needed. If he was traded Reinke is probably the guy to fill his spot. We lose Bozak most likely he doesn't get re-signed and instead of looking outward we look inward with players like Alexandrov, Toropchenko, and Joshua to fill the 4th line, and you most likely move Barbashev up to 3rd line. We have Kyrou which I have already moved into the lineup probably serves 3rd or 4th line depending on if he can produce. De La Rose is most likely out of the team he's a 13th 14th forward and he really doesn't perform when he's on the ice.

If we wanna look outward for any type of trade it's not gonna include Parayko, and I doubt it includes Dunn. Most likely includes someone like a forward we don't really use to get some prospects more playing time. They trade him for draft picks. I assume DLR, and Blais are trade pieces. Not sure we will trade Scandella wouldn't mind trading him instead of Dunn in the future to fit Perunovich.

And I got you thinking it was another Parayko deal LOL

What do those contracts look like though -- I'm guessing $6.5m for Schwartz, $5-6m for Binnington, and maybe the DeBrusk 2-year bridge for Thomas - so around $3.75? Will be tough to fit all three under a flat-cap.

edit: Bozak coming off the books will be huge for you guys too, so that makes it a lot easier

Good for the Blues in getting Steen retirement. There will still be some "recapture penalty" due to the front loading of his contract. If the the team in under the cap, and the planned taxi squad is in place, really no need to trade Gunnersson or others. Having Tarasenko on LTIR gets more space if needed.

Schwartz probably max 6.5M but, I would think he makes around 5-6M. Binnington I would assume that is a perfect contract for him. Thomas it depends on if we want him long-term but I would advise a Bridge for 2 years that way we can buy up more UFA years, when it comes around to signing time again.

I think if Binnington wants much more than five we should let him walk. That would suck but he just hasn't played consistently enough to earn a raise since the cup win and yeah the financials of the league have obviously changed.

I've come around on signing Schwartz long term but I'm looking for a TJ Oshie contract more than another Schenn contract I think.

I think a 2-3 bridge deal for Thomas around four million is perfectly fair.

Bozak will be coming off the books (though might be a good one year extension for cheap, he's still an effective player) and so is Gunnarsson as you mentioned. I think they ought to move Scandella too at some point. Hard to justify paying a third pairing defenseman 3.25 million but Krug and Dunn should be getting the top four minutes over him on the left side so where else does he play?

Anyway, shouldn't be too bad to fit everyone in.

I would more enjoy another Steen type contract 5 years 5.35M, but i'm not sure if that's actually an option with him.
