The first trade (Tyson Barrie to Minnesota for 2 3rds), is supposed to clean up the congested RHD, and give Bouchard a bigger role. Barrie is a PP specialist, and Minnesota currently sits 31st in PP% (7.6%), so I thought they could use someone like him.
It's being rumored that Nashville is trading everyone except Josi and Ellis, and if that's the case, Mattias Ekholm would be a really good fit in Edmonton. He's good at both 5v5 offense and defense, can PK, and is the perfect Klefbom replacement. Ekholm only makes 3.75M. I traded the 2021 1st, Kirill Maksimov (decent prospect, might be a top 9 player), Caleb Jones (we won't protect him in the expansion draft anyways), and Alex Chiasson (just for the cap to go through and his contract will expire this year).
Anti Raanta is needed because we need a 1A goalie. He's a pending UFA, so it won't take too much to trade for him. I think a 3rd, Benson, and Turris will do.
Derek Ryan is a good player that fits what Edmonton needs (right handed center, good defensively, can win faceoffs, isn't on pace for a -43 in 82 games...). However his contract is ugly and we can probably get him for a 6th. Due to the deal being at the deadline, we'll only have to pay about $1M.
"Conjested RHD??" You can't have too many competent Dman (not saying Barrie is one). But geez the Oilers might have 4 RHDs...but how many are playing NHL good?

They need to just play Bouchard already I dont care if bear or Barrie has to be traded to make that happen.

More like too many of the same player type. Barrie is just a worse version of Bouchard IMO, and he's blocking his development.
