Description

Buffalo wants too much for Eichel so let him rot in Buffalo and keep the group together another year while adding in Kravstov, Lundqvist and a heavyweight in Oleksiak without giving up any young kids or good prospects or 1st round draft picks. Plus, it leaves cap room for signing Mika and Fox to what will be expensive new contracts for both. They need to keep rebuilding and not give away the young talent they have accumulated the past few years. They have a good young core group, they just need some more time to mature.

I just realized the Rangers are probably paying Dan Girardi more in the buy out of his contract than the Sabres are for him to be their assistant coach.

Agreed. They don't really need a Eichel level player. Zibanejad is a good 1C. They should just focus on developing Kakko and Laf. If they could snag a solid 2C they should make it happen. Would love to see Nugent Hopkins in new york.

Us Ranger fans are gradually figuring this out.

Too much to give up, as opposed to resigning Zibenejad. By letting Zibenejad and Strome go after 21-22, you basically have the same lack of Center Depth by then, anyway. And less Prospects.

Stay the course with youth. Look to resign Zibenejad, or at least keep on an eye on whether Barkov resigns with Panthers.
