WSH fans really wanted Miller last summer. Then they signed Schultz to fill the need for an injury replacement for Carlson. If they trade Vanecek, it's before expansion to avoid losing one of Vanecek/Samsonov to Seattle. If they trade for Miller, it means they lost Schultz in expansion, probably by trading about a 4th to Seattle to commit to take Schultz and not take a goalie or whoever else, so Vanecek is back off the market.
To make sense to Washington, Vanecek for Miller has to happen half before and half after expansion.
Reinhart and Wilson each have 24 even strength points this year. Over the last four years, Reinhart has 15 more, but Wilson has played 475 more minutes shorthanded and finished 667 more checks. Washington passes.
