You can't just trade away spare parts and expect to get other teams' better players. That's not how this works

I wouldn't consider it "spare parts". Strome is still very young and has potential. he's been battling injuries the past two seasons and still had a 0.6ppg pace with the Hawks. It was less this year as he fell out of favor with the coach and was in and out of the lineup. He had a hard time establishing himself. it's still up in the air whether that's his ceiling or if he can overcome the hump. Anaheim might be a great place for him given their young talent coming up.

Beaudin is still only 21 and is a 1st rounder. He has a ceiling of a middle pairing Dman and has the makings of a steady defender. Plus then the 13OA is nothing to sneeze at.

As an Anaheim guy, I would take this deal quite happily. Lindholm is our best defensive blue-liner, but we haven't been a winning team for three years now, so it's time to try something different. Our entire defense needs to be rebuilt behind Fowler and Drysdale, and the time to begin that process is sooner rather than later. And by the way, although Chicago owns the 13th slot in the draft order, don't forget that Arizona (in 12th) has no first-rounder this year. (I assume that a condition of this trade is that the Chicago pick is top-2 protected and doesn't elevate when the lotteries are actually drawn.)
