Couture for Kuznetsov is wild, a consistent 200 foot guy for a streaky scorer. I'd pass if I was San Jose. The Reinhart trade is a lateral move for the Sabres, I don't think that's ideal as they need futures.

    Ya, I agree.

If I was a SJS fan, I would want the organization to worry about getting off the D-men contracts not Couture’s.

Burns, Karlsson and the MEV contracts are bad.

I can’t see a way SJS are competitive in the next 4-5 seasons with those contract.

But that’s ok I guess. As long as they tank good.

No more of these 7th overall picks. They need to start Tanking good!! And get 2-3 years in a row of top 3-5 picks.

Understandable on both points you make. I have the same concerns about Kuznetsov for sure, but I also feel like you’re kind of overrating Couture a bit - especially considering the term on his contract.

And yeah with Reinhart I’m not sure what the Sabres prefer between futures and a hockey trade but that’s about as good as the Sharks can do for him without screwing our own outlook.

Gotta sign Reinhart long term if they give up that much. Can't walk him to UFA with a 1yr deal

Yeah I agree. The Couture trade doesn’t take priority over or replace any of the Defensemen getting moved, it’s just a swap that I thought could be interesting.

Problem is Karlsson and Vlasic are absolute anchors. They’re not going anywhere anytime ever lol.

Burns I think is totally moveable though. He actually still has some value despite his contract and a slight decline. Problem is all signs point to Wilson wanting to keep Burns so in this AGM I was working on that presumption. If you check out the “scenario 1” version Burns is offloaded in that.
