I doubt Jones signs. Indications are he wants to test FA, so he’ll probably do so.

Plus, if he were to be traded with an extension lined up, you’d have to do better than that. Add JK. Make it a 2022 1st, add a 2nd.

Drouin is…fine, but for a rebuilding team he ain’t doing much, and I get the impression we’d be doing MTL more of a favor by taking him in a trade than not.

You really should not be giving up that many assets for a guy who's coming off a terrible season (and is overrated in general) and has only 1 year left.

for a rebuilding team Drouin is PERFECT, if he rebounds you have a valuable trade chip and if he does not, no harm is done anyways

Maybe, but there is a lot of “ifs” in that. Unless you are getting one of these “change of scenery” guys for pennies on the dollar (I think Turris, for example, fits this) I’m not sold on the investment.
