No thanks from LA. They don't have any interest in Dermott (they'd just lose him in the expansion draft), and a 3rd round pick isn't enough return to convince them to trade away the best goaltender in franchise history while retaining 50% salary for 2 years. Also, the Kings don't have another NHL ready backup goaltender and don't need the cap space, so they're content to just keep Quick and let him play 20-25 games behind Petersen.

I mean he can play the right side too.

Quick is far from a player that should be making 6 mil. Dermott can play the left or right side and can make the trade after the expansion draft to prevent them from losing him. Kings can also sign a cheap replacement (reimer, bernier...) to play backup or work as a tandem, while being upgrades over quick
