Description

Using the Arviddson price to try to win a Keith trade to CGY. Would probably rather sign McCabe or Martinez, but I also think Keith has 4 solid years left on a 2nd pairing and would bring some important winning thinking and development for the room (and specifically for Hanifin, Andersson, and Valimaki to learn from).

+ Maybe NSH is looking for a change in the room? They get the younger pieces in the deal, and would have the option to sign/trade Gaudreau for a haul of assets if they want to do a mini rebuild. I think both Gaudreau and Monahan would love to play in NSH and would thrive in that town. Great fans and city with less intense hockey/media culture.

This CGY lineup becomes much more playoff-ready with the additions of Forsberg, Getzlaf, Johansen, and Goodrow.

Doubt Getzlaf would sign with CGY, but he might consider it after some of these additions.

tf is this? the max i’d go for keith is a 2nd if he’s half retained and even that might be a bit much. gaudreau is significantly better than forsberg and monahan is significantly better than ryjo so that makes zero sense for calgary. if nashville added tomasino and retained half on ryjo i might start to consider it

Agree with most of your comments. I have prices these trades as max values CGY would pay. Sure, add or subtract here and there. But these values are in the ballpark as foundational pieces required to do these deals.
