Description
McDavid isn't the easiest player to play with but has good history with Strome, who has the skills to complement him.

I think one of the biggest issues preventing the oilers from getting over the hump has been the lack of a big veteran presence on the blue line. Keith can still play in a limited role and is a proven winner. Retaining on Neal saves 2 years of the buyout.

Someone like Janmark brings some skill and versatility to the lineup. Hes a good middle 6 guy.

Lastly, contract wise:
Turris, Koskinen, Koekkoek and Russell contracts all expire and their 7 million should be enough for raises next year for Nurse, JP, McLeod and Bear.

If Janmark works out , can resign him.
Same with Strome who will be RFA.
So lots of cap flexibility next summer to make moves.

Koskinen has been fine, but could be moved a lot easier at the deadline if oilers wanna upgrade in net before playoffs.

I'd also expect Holloway to be in the lineup come playoffs, similar to how McLeod was brought up this past year.

I wouldn't be happy with that return. Strome holds better value than that entire package IMO.

Edmonton would have to add to that package.
Because of what happened late in the Winnipeg series I don’t see Puljujarvi playing with McDavid next year.
I also don’t see Bear playing with Nurse. A lot to ask of Bouchard but I think he ends up with Nurse before the season ends.

I agree with you. I was kinda basing that deal on what others have posted from both sides. Would a higher pick plus adding a good prospect work, or what do you think equals it out.

Funny you mention the Puljujarvi thing. I don't think McDavid has ever liked playing with puljujarvi. The language thing also comes to play here. It must be tough when you can't communicate effectively with your linemate. I think he's frustrated playing with him.

Agree with Bouchard. He has all the skills, just needs to refine his game. It's only a matter of time. I don't see Bear as a top pairing guy, more of a 4/5 guy who can move the puck. He gets caught trying to do too much. Needs to just simplify his game and he'll be fine.

Yes a higher pick and likely would want a 22' pick or earlier due to the rebuild phase. As for other players involved in the deal, I have seen the Jones inclusion be mentioned but if we aren't going to get his brother theres really no point to obtaining him with all respect to his ability.
